Happy Birthday Pogo

April 30, 2017

Good morning.  Where are my manners??  Pogo's birthday was this past Friday, and I did not even mention it!!  My little guy is now eleven years young.  It doesn't seem possible that he's been with me for almost five years.  My birthday wish for him is a long, healthy and happy life.

Yesterday was such a gorgeous day, and Pogo and I spent quite a bit of time outdoors.  We even walked around the yard to the other side of the house and back again.  Wow, this was my longest walk yet since I got sick.  The purple tulip blossoms were all opening up really wide.  I put a couple of them up on the porch railing because they looked so beautiful there.

Around mid afternoon, the wind picked up all of a sudden and was blowing things around pretty good.  Before I could go outside and move my plants, the wind had blown them off the railings.  Pogo had been sitting by the door, but now he ran into the room to watch from a safer place.

Friday was also a special day for our Jazzy.  That night, she went to her Junior prom.  Lordy, Lordy, where have all the years gone?  Our little league baseball player, trombone player, fashion diva and budding Broadway star has grown into a beautiful young woman. This photo made my eyes teary.  Jazzy is my youngest grandchild.

Today is a wee bit cooler than yesterday, but it is still a gorgeous day.  The sun is shining and there is a nice breeze.  Deanne is coming by later to (hopefully) take me shopping.  Keep your fingers crossed that I actually make it all the way to the store.  My walker has a seat on it, so I can sit whenever I need to.

Now I'm off to finish my coffee before it's time to get dressed.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Ah, What A Beautiful Day!!!

April 28, 2017

Good morning.  Goodness, today is another simply gorgeous day.  Temps will probably hit 80F degrees later today, the sun keeps smiling down on us and my flag is waving in the breeze.  Pogo and I will definitely be spending time out on the porch today.

Well, I decided to put the afghan away for a while and start another hat and scarf set.  This new set will be "Jade" and so far it is looking rather pretty.  I'd like to get out to JoAnn's Fabric store to find some yarn for a new baby blanket.  Yup, there'll be another new great grandbaby in a few months.  This time, a boy.  Woo Hoo!!!

This morning I've been watching a couple episodes of "Long Lost Family" (on TV).  This program tries to find and reunite family members who have been separated their whole lives, usually due to adoptions.  It's amazing to watch the process that these folks go through to find the missing family members.  It's so heartwarming when they are able to locate and reunite a lot of these folks.

Today I have a couple photos to share that Janicee took last week while she and Deanne were walking through the park.  First if one of the resident swans, and second is the waterfall.  It's good to see it running again.  While we were having the serious drought conditions, the waterfall was not running.  This year, though, we've been blessed with enough rainfall to ease the drought.

Some new plants that I ordered a while back have just been delivered, so I'm hoping that the kids can come by soon to plant them for me.  I'll take photos after I open the boxes.  I believe one of the them is dahlias.  Hmmm, these bulbs would need to be dug up in the Fall and re-planted again in the Spring.  I'm thinking that maybe I should have ordered bulbs that could just stay in the ground.  Ah well, maybe they can be planted in pots.  I'll look into that.

Now I think I'll make some lunch for Pogo and me.  Afterwards, we'll sit out on the porch and Pogo can watch for the mailman.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

The Island Of Tears

April 27, 2017

Good morning.  Today there are just a lot of puddles left behind from the rain, and temps are already in the 50's.  The sun has been peeking in and out from behind some clouds.  Sort of teasing us.  We are in for a few nice days.  Oh goodie goodie!!

Well, last evening, I did not end up cooking raviolis for our supper.  DIL Janet brought a zip lock bag full of cooked ham slices, so I whipped up some mashed potatoes and veggies to go with it.  Janet had also brought an apple pie for dessert.  Yum, yum!

Today I want to share another interesting article from the May "Smithsonian" magazine.  This one has to do with Ellis Island and how people were processed through there.  These two photos show the article heading and the puzzle that was an important part of this process.

Immigrants in the early 1900's were examined for physical and mental illness, questioned about their ability to support themselves financially, and whether they held radical views.  This was to sort out those immigrants (or their offspring) who may become a burden to the State.  A Dr. Howard Knox developed the Feature Profile Test, which was used from 1912 to 1916.  (puzzle pictured above)

Typically, test-takers had just arrived after a long horrible voyage aboard ship.  They were in a foreign land and might be sleep deprived, depressed or ill.  If they did not complete the puzzle test in five minutes, along with other factors, they could be shipped back to the old country. Immigrants were turned back often enough that Ellis Island earned the nickname of "The Island of Tears." (all information taken directly from the article.)

I went on-line to download a picture of the finished puzzle.  I wonder how many of us, under similar conditions, would have figured this out in just five minutes.

Shortly before three o'clock every weekday afternoon, Pogo takes up his post by the door.  He's watching for Joe, who is due home from work sometime between 3:15 and 3:30.  If it is warm and not raining, Pogo sits out on the porch by the gate and watches from there.  It's turkey treat time when Joe gets home.  This photo was taken yesterday (it was raining).

I think I shall get busy now and wash the dishes and see about lunch.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

A Little Knowlege Is Good For The Soul

April 26, 2017

Good morning.  Tis another wet day here in New England.  But the weather man promises us some sunshine and warmer temps once this patch of rain has passed later today.  We're supposed to have a really super weekend weather wise.

Well, yesterday was a non-busy day.  I paid a bunch of bills, and that's about it.  I did go out into the main house and chat a bit with a couple of the dwarfs.  I even watered all my plants that are out there.  So, I guess that counts for something.

Do any of you get the magazine "Smithsonian"?  Another thing that I did yesterday was to read the May issue of this wonderful magazine.  One really interesting article called "Wet And Wild" was all about the history of New York's waterfront.  I never realized that New York City is really a collection of islands, and that it has over 520 miles of coastline.  New York Harbor also used to be the busiest in the world.  Yup, very interesting reading.

I also learned the difference between horns and antlers.  Do you know the difference?  Huh?  Huh?  Like me, you probably didn't even know that there was a difference.  Well, horns consist of bones encased in keratin.  They are generally permanent, and won't regrow if they are damaged or removed.  Antlers consist of bone covered by living skin known as "velvet", and they will regrow after they fall off (which they do seasonally).  Now you know!!

My purple tulips are still blooming, and I must say they are simply gorgeous.  Here's a photo of them opening their petals wide to enjoy the sunshine (the other day).

I also took photos of some of the petals that fell off the parrot tulip plant.  Their colors are intriguing and really beautiful.  This photo could almost pass for some sort of art that could be hung on a wall.  Don't you agree?  By the way, the parrot tulip has a new stem with a bud growing.  Woo Hoo!!

Well, I started late today, and now it is almost lunch time again.  I think I'll have a big salad today.  Nothing fancy, just lettuce, tomatoes, ham and cheese.  And, of course, a speck of dressing.  DIL Janet might be coming by later, so I need to think about what to cook for our supper. I'm thinking maybe raviolis and spaghetti sauce.  Hmmm.

On that happy note, I'll take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Creative Shopping Ideas

April 25, 2017

Good morning (for six more minutes).  I've been battling with Google and Blogger for the last hour just trying to get into my own blog.  I don't understand why this happens, but it seems that every two or three months, Google does stuff to mess up your accounts and make it difficult to have access to them.

Today's temp is 50F and it is gray and damp.  We're expecting rain most of the day and night and tomorrow.  After that, I think the temps are supposed to warm up.  I hope so.  Pogo and I are wanting to spend a bit more time out on the porch.  It's been a wee bit too cool lately to sit out there for very long.

Yesterday, I took a few photos of some of the new blooms in the yard.  Two little orange tulips opened up.  Oh my, they are beautiful!!

My lilac bush is full of purple buds.  I often wonder how they know to bloom in time for Mother's Day.

In the little garden by the shed, two gorgeous jonquils are blossoming.  There are lots of plants coming up in that garden, but these are the only two blooms so far.

And while I'm out getting these photos, Pogo is standing on the porch, watching me through the gate.  Oh gosh, how can you not love this little face???

I really must get back to normal soon.  I need to do a bit of grocery shopping and re-stock my bottled water supply. The first time out, I should take someone with me so that I can use my walker.  The other person can push the shopping basket, and I can sit on the seat on the walker when I need to.  If I'm up and walking for more than a few minutes, my back starts to ache, and I have to sit for a bit.

One of the local markets has a delivery program called "Pea Pod" and I may have to look into that.  Amazon has a similar program, and I'll look into that one too.  I can have my staple items delivered, and just make a quick trip to the market for a few special items.  Hmmm, seems like a plan.

It's time for lunch now, so I think I'll go see what I can make for Pogo and me.  Obviously, he will be getting doggie food (much to his chagrin!).  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

April Is Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals Month

April 24, 2017

Good morning.  It really is lovely here.  Temps are already in the low 60's and the sun is shining.  There is a slight breeze causing my flag to dance slowly against a backdrop of a blue sky and the new green leaves on the trees.

I just took Pogo outside for a short walk.  While he was busy sniffing everything, I noticed that my lilac bush is full of buds, and there are new leaves on my rose bushes.  A lot of the plants coming up will not get to bloom because the tops of all their stems were frozen during the constant mix of cold and warm temps these past couple of months.

Aha!  But a few plants are blossoming.  Several days ago a couple of jonquils blossomed, and today two orange tulips opened up.  So all is not lost.  I guess this is the trade off we make when we wish for warm temps during the winter months.  Here is one of the white hyacinths showing off it's new blossoms.

Folks, this is Prevention of Cruelty To Animals month.  Please do your part and report any cruelty or abuse to animals that you may see or know of to the proper authorities.  Our animals do so much for us, and ask for so little in return.  No one has the right to hurt them.  Also, if you are looking for a new companion, please visit your local shelters.  Adopt, adopt, adopt, don't buy.

Remember those cute little solar figurines that wave when the sunshine hits them?  Well, I seem to be acquiring a rather nice collection of them.  A few days ago, Kevin and Janicee came by with a few more of them to add to my collection.  I keep them on the railing on my porch.  Here's a photo that I took through the screen door.

I doubt if I'll be planting any new seeds this year.  It is a little late to be starting them.  I haven't even planted my new Chia plant yet.  Hmmm, maybe I'll do that this week.  It looks like the nights won't be dropping below 40 degrees now so I can keep my plants out on the porch.

Saturday night, I ripped out about nine rows of wrong stitches from the blue afghan.  Yesterday and last night, I put them all back on, plus a few more rows.  This doesn't put me in the mood to make another afghan any time soon.

Yesterday I went out and started my car.  Today I'll also go out and start it.  I'm hoping to be driving it really soon.  Maybe one day this week?  That would really be nice.  I need to get back to doing my own shopping and errands.  And, Pogo would love to go for a ride in the car.  It's been such a long time since his last car ride.

My friend Beth just lost her brother to cancer.  Your prayers will be much appreciated while Beth and her family grieve their loss.  Folks, hug your family and friends and let them know you love them.  Tomorrow is not guaranteed.  It's a gift.

Well, that's about all my news for today.  So, on that note I'll take my leave.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

There's Beauty In Raindrops

April 23, 2017

Good morning.  The sun is shining and temps are already in the low 50's.  They should reach the low to mid 60's later this afternoon.  During the night, temps dropped to around 37F degrees, so of course I brought all my plants indoors.  They are back outside now, enjoying the fresh air.

The other day, when it stopped raining, I took a few photos of my pansies, all covered with raindrops.  I love photos of raindrops.

The last couple of days I've been working on the blue afghan.  Sad to say, last night I realized that I now have to take out all the rows that I just put on it.  I've been doing the wrong stitch!!  Oy vey!!!

This morning I've been watching videos (on TV) of the wild fires that are burning in Florida.  They seem to be all through the state from top to bottom. Gosh, I hope it rains there soon to help put out all the fires.  So many homes have already been lost, and I imagine a lot of wildlife too.

Yesterday afternoon, I started my car and let it run for a few minutes.  I'll do it again in a little while.  I've had my car for almost four years, so I'm thinking that the battery is just getting old and tired, and needs to be replaced.  The first chance I get to drive my car, I'll go shopping for a new battery.

Now I think I'll wash a few dishes and find some other mischief to get into.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

April Showers For The Flowers

April 21, 2017

Good morning.  Tis a bit gray outside because Mother Nature is watering all the plants that are coming up.  It's a good day for crocheting.  I have a blue afghan that I need to work on.  It will be a Christmas gift for a dear friend   I also want to make an orange afghan.  I don't need another afghan, but I want an orange one.

When DL Janet came by a couple days ago, she brought me some beautiful purple tulips.  I took some photos to share.  Notice the white centers?  Aren't these pretty?

I also have a photo of the "Painted Desert" hat and scarf set that I had started while in the hospital.

Last night, I finished up the Lemon Yellow set that I've been working on this past week.  It's such a bright happy color.

I think I'll pay some bills this morning.  Somehow, there is never a shortage of bills needing to be paid.  I need to start a new tax info notebook for this year too.  Maybe if I start now, I'll be ready early in the year next time.

Have you noticed that I'm not so gabby any more?  My concentration doesn't stay on any one thought long enough to get very chatty.  Hopefully, this will all change once I am back on my feet.

On that note, I'll take my leave.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have an awesome weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

Sniff, Sniff, Sniff, Sniff

April 20, 2017

Good morning.  Tis another lovely day here in my little part of New England.  The sun is shining and there is a little breeze.  It rained last night, but that stopped before daybreak.  The plants are back outside, and Pogo and I have finished breakfast.  Well, Pogo ate, I had a cup of coffee.

Yesterday was a busy day.  Janicee came by to clean out some of my gardens.  She did an awesome job, and filled four large trash bags with dead leaves and debris.

Pogo sat out on the porch with me and watched Janice uncover lots of new plants.  For a while, it was a bit cool, but after a while the sun warmed everything up nicely.

Once the sun came out, I took Pogo into the yard.  As usual, he got busy right away, sniffing everything in sight to make sure all was well.  Can't have any strange little critters lurking anywhere.
The sniffing took quite a while because Pogo is very thorough.

Later, DIL Janet came by with some more gorgeous tulips.  I took photos, but I'll save them for tomorrow.  I also finished up a hat and scarf set that I had started while I was in the hospital.  I'll take a photo to share tomorrow.

All in all, yesterday was a really super day.  With all the fresh air that Pogo and I got, we slept really well last night.  We'll be spending time on the porch today too because it is supposed to rain tomorrow.

Pogo is sitting by the door, watching for the mailman.  Yesterday, the mailman told me that there is another little doggie down the street who sits by the window waiting for him to come.  This other little doggie also loves to bark at the mailman.

Well, I'm off now.  There are some dishes in the sink waiting to be washed.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

It's Time For Some Roses

April 19, 2019

Good morning.  Today is cool, only 46F degrees at the moment, but headed for the low 50's.  But, the sun is shining and there is a nice breeze, and I've just put my plants back outside.  The petals keep falling off my parrot tulip plant.  Awwww, I wish the blossoms lasted longer.

Today I'm running a little late (slept in a bit late) and I seem to be doing things a bit slower.  Today will be a "rest a lot" day.  Even my car is slowing down.  The battery is dead.  I tried to start my car yesterday, but it just would not even sputter.  Maybe when one of the kids comes by, I'll have them jump start the battery.

I went through my old collab kits, and found one to share.  This one is called "A Rose Is A Rose" and these are the parts that I contributed to the kit.

Here are the download links:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/oxcdbaaejbhz0qq/EB_-_Spring_Roses_-_Elements.zip
http://www.mediafire.com/file/cze2f7cvrc9owmu/EV_-_Spring_Roses_-_Papers.zip

The kit is named "A Rose Is A Rose" but I had to change the name on the zip files to "Spring Roses" in order to get the links to upload correctly.  Don't ask, I don't understand this either!!

This is going to be a short post because now I have to figure out what to make for supper.  DIL Janet is supposed to be coming by later and I said I would cook tonight, rather than order "take out."

So, on that note I'll take my leave.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a beautiful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Grrrrr, Woof Woof!!!

April 18, 2017

Good morning.  Today is a bit cooler, but still nice.  The sun is shining and my flag is waving in the breeze against a backdrop of new green leaves.  Here's a shot of the new leaves.  Some folks may find new leaves boring, but I think they are exciting.

Last night, I brought all my plants indoors because the temperature was going to be dropping rather low.  This morning, I've put them all back outdoors to enjoy the sun.

Yesterday, I got another beautiful new plant to hang on my porch.  A big pot of purple and white pansies.  Pansies are one of my favorite flowers.

Kevin, Janicee and their friend Anthony came by for a visit and brought the pansies with them.  Folks, one of the perks of growing older is the grandchildren.  And, mine are awesome!!  And beautiful, too!!!

The kids are planning on coming by tomorrow to rake all the dead leaves out of my gardens.  There's a lot of plants coming up beneath all those leaves.  This morning, a couple more daffodil blooms have opened, and there are buds on some of my tulips.

I spent some time on my laptop yesterday, and hopefully I'll spend a little time on it today.  I'm beginning to enjoy playing with my new scrap kits.  This is definitely a good sign.  Now if only I could get back to driving my car and walking around a store.  Soon, hopefully, soon.

Now I have to watch for the mailman.  I have a couple letters to return to him.  They were tucked in with my mail.  Watching for the mailman is one of the highlights of Pogo's day.  For some reason, Pogo loves barking at the mailman.  I suppose though, that if you can't bite you have to be really good at barking ferociously in order to protect your home.  And Pogo is very good at barking ferociously!

On that note, I'll take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Weather Changes Coming Our Way

April 17, 2017

Good morning.  Wowee, what a gorgeous day yesterday was!!  Our temps were in the high 80's, and the sun was shining all day with a beautiful breeze.  After a phone call to the local police, the neighbors across the street quieted down a bit, and the rest of the day was really nice.

After speaking with my kids by phone, Pogo and I settled in to have us a nice peaceful day.  I didn't really do much of anything, but I did get to watch a lot of good crime stories on TV.  So all in all, it was a very restful day.

I took a couple photos of the beautiful parrot tulips that daughter Deanne had brought me.  The colors are really are gorgeous.  Yellow, with green, red and orange.

Some doggie food that I had ordered online was delivered yesterday.  I opened one of the cans and put the new food on a plate for Pogo.  He would not have anything to do with it.  I tried again later but with the same results.  This is one of the downfalls of ordering food online.  I cannot send the rest of the cans back.  Maybe Sassy (Deanne's doggie) will eat this food.  We'll see.

I got a text message, along with two photos from my friend Beth.  It seems that the new chicken toy that Pogo had sent to Cisco (Beth's doggie) also arrived yesterday.  Have fun Cisco.  We hope you like chicken!!

Today temps are in the low 70's, and the sun is shining most of the time.  I'm going to enjoy the day as much as I can because tonight temps will drop 32 degrees.  The rest of the week is supposed to be much cooler (50's and high 40's) during the day, and downright cold at night (30's and 40's).

I'm looking out my door and I'm noticing that my trees have tiny green leaves on them.  Woo Hoo!!  When the leaves sprout on the trees, you know that Spring is really here!!

In May, Jazzy will be performing in "Sister Act" with the Brockton High School Drama Club.  (Winner of Best Musical in Massachusetts, 2015).  She will be portraying Sister Mary Lazarus, and has asked me to please post the information here on my blog in case anyone is interested in donating or buying tickets to a performance.  You never know who reads this blog.

Performances are on Friday, May 12 at 7 p.m., Saturday, May 13 at 7 p.m., and Sunday May 14 at 6 p.m.  Tickets are $12.00.  So, if you are local and want to see a truly enjoyable performance by our extremely talented young men and women, treat yourself and go watch their performance of "Sister Act."

Now I'm going to head for the kitchen to see what I'll make for lunch.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Happy Easter

April 16, 2017

Good morning, and Happy Easter to everyone.  Today we are enjoying a gorgeous sunny warm day.  After this, we have almost a week of really cool temps coming our way.  Crazy!!

Pogo and I were planning on sitting out on the porch today, but the neighbors across the street have other plans.  They are cooking out in their front yard (????) and are planning on lots of company.  They also have their favorite music on so loud that it can be heard up and down the whole street.

I guess Pogo and I won't be spending very much time outside today.  This is sad.  Neighbors should be able to get along.  Not so in our neighborhood.  These same neighbors work on cars and trucks in their yard till well after midnight some nights.  The motors being revved keep some of us awake.  But, no one seems to complain.  I really wonder why.

Pogo is still refusing to eat his doggie food.  I am still insisting on feeding it to him.  Something tells me that this is going to be a long lasting battle.  I want to give him bits of people food, but it really defeats the purpose.  So I don't.  However, whenever I eat something I feel ever so guilty.

Yesterday, daughter Deanne was going to take me grocery shopping.  I really thought I was ready to get out for a bit.  But, I was wrong.  Standing and walking around was just making me dizzy, so my trip to the store was put on hold.  Deanne and Janicee went grocery shopping for me.  Ah well, maybe next week or the week after.  Soon, I hope.

Today I'll work on the yellow scarf and hat set.  The scarf is almost done.  This lemon yellow is such a happy color.  Quite appropriate for today.  Once this set is finished, I'll have to take inventory of all the sets to see which colors I haven't done yet.

Here's a cute image I borrowed from the web.  It sort of sums up my days.  haha.

Now I have a bit more blog reading to catch up with.  Maybe later I'll try playing on my laptop too.  I'm trying to get some creativity going here.  Little by little it comes back but not for a very long time.  I'll keep trying though.

I hope everyone is enjoying time with their families and friends today.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a Blessed Easter Sunday.

Hugs, Edna B.

Just A Qick Post

April 14, 2017

Good afternoon.  It was 32F degrees this morning at 7:15 am.  When I got up and saw that, I went right back to bed. It's a lot warmer now, 60F degrees, so I've opened the door and put the plants back outside.

There's not much happening here, except that Joe picked up his new truck.  Oh my, what a beauty!  And it's so big!!  Here are a couple photos of him and his new truck.

Today I need to go online and order more doggie food.  The only downside of this is that you don't get to have a variety of food.  The cans are packed six, twelve or more of the same kind of food.  I'll have to look around to see if I can find any variety packs.

Daughter Deanne is on her way here, so I'll take my leave here shortly.  I'm hoping to get out to the market over the weekend.  We'll see.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

Trying To Get Back In My Creative Groove

April 13, 2017

Good afternoon.  Today is much cooler, but the sun keeps coming out so it's still quite a nice day.  The forecast calls for several cool days, a very warm Easter Sunday, and then more cool days.

This morning, Joe vacuumed my porch, and got up all the Winter dust and dirt.  Now Pogo has the whole porch to play on.  We'll  have to think of something nice to do for Joe.  He's always doing things to help us.

A couple nights ago I finished the Key Lime hat and scarf set.  It's actually quite pretty.  Now I'm working on a Lemon Yellow set.  Here's a photo of the set I just finished.

Last evening, DIL Janet shared some of her hamburg with Pogo.  She sprinkled it on his doggie food, and he ate everything on his plate.  Afterwards, he climbed up on his chair and had a really nice nap.  Now I ask you, doesn't this look like a very happy little camper???  He's probably dreaming about all that tasty hamburg and wondering how he can get some more.

Today I'm a little off my game.  Each day I feel a bit better, but some days I'm just a bit woozy so I don't do very much.  Today is one of those days.  Tomorrow will be better.

Yesterday was a good day for me and I even played a bit on my laptop.  Here's a new quick page for you.  I hope you can use it to show off photos of your fur babies.

Here is your download link:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/yg099ueq451jqjk/EB_-_QP_-_2017_-_10.zip

Now I think I'll try to have me a little nap.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a really nice day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Furry Happy Pills

April 12, 2017

Good afternoon.  Today is not quite as warm as yesterday, but it is still a lovely day.  After I post here, Pogo and I are going to sit out on the porch for a while.

I am itching to drive my car again.  It's been so long since I've even been in it.  I'm hoping my handicap parking placard comes soon.  When it does, I'd like to be driving my car again.  I also need to clean the rest of my porch so that I can use the whole thing.  It needs a good vacuuming.  Maybe that's what I'll try to do this afternoon.

Joe has recently come into some super good luck.  He won a tidy sum with the lottery tickets, and it made it possible for him to buy himself a truck.  I can hardly wait to see it.  Joe is supposed to be bringing his new truck home with him tomorrow.  I'll be sure to get some photos.  Joe, I wish you lots of luck with your new vehicle.

It seems to be a healing time of year. My friends Beth and Kyra are both slowly getting back on their feet too.  Sunshine and warm temps seem to be good for everyone.  Toss in some dogs and cats and it becomes a recipe for healing.

I borrowed this image from the web, and thought it was quite appropriate for now.  Anyone with a fur baby will understand.  My high blood pressure in the hospital went right down to normal as soon as I got home and was able to hug my Pogo.  Simply magical!!

Ever since Joe gave Pogo a piece of steak for supper a couple days ago, Pogo has been ignoring his doggie food.  Hmmm, I'll have to learn from this.  The dog food is expensive, and I'm not going to be throwing it all out.  If Pogo doesn't eat his food in the first fifteen minutes, I'll  take it away and put it in the fridge.  This hurts me more than it hurts him.

Ah well, it's time to see if there's anything tasty in the fridge for lunch.  On that happy note, I'll take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Sunshine Definitey Puts Me On The Mend!

April 11, 2017

Good morning.  What a magnificent day yesterday was!!!  Sunny, low seventies, and a light breeze.  And Pogo and I got to sit out on the porch for a few hours and enjoy it all.  This is definitely the way to get me back on my feet!!

I dusted off my rocking chair (on the porch) and cleaned off Pogo's little porch bed.  Then I swept the front portion of the porch and called it a day.  Just enough room for Pogo and me to sit out there and listen to the birds.  The birds seemed to know that I was listening because they really put on a beautiful concert.

I had a couple photos to share today, but Blogger is not allowing me to upload any photos.  I'm not sure why, and I'm not going to provoke it into messing up my blog.

Yesterday evening, I decided to make a nice big salad for my supper, so I started by taking out a brand new head of lettuce.  As I peeled off the outer leaves, it became very noticeable that the whole head of lettuce was no good.  Oh yuk!  groan! groan! groan!

No lettuce means no sandwiches either because I put lettuce in most all my sandwiches.  I also put it in my egg salad and my tuna salad.  So that means none of that either.  This is not good!  What's a girl to do?  The only thing left is a box of Cheerios.  So I had a bowl of Cheerios for my supper.

There is a small flock of tiny birds gathering outside my door.  Every now and then one or two of them hops on to the gate on my porch, just to let me know that they are out there.  I guess they are looking for some food, so I think I'll just go get them some.

On this happy note, I'll take my leave.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

I Have My Porch Back

April 10, 2017

Good morning.  If today is half as nice as yesterday was, then we are going to have us another gorgeous day.  Pogo and I got to sit out in that gorgeous sunshine yesterday, and oh my, it was soooo good!

Deanne and Eddie came by in the afternoon, and Joe went outside to help Eddie remove all the porch screen covers.  Today I'm hoping to clean some of the porch.  Just one small area at a time.  Then Pogo and I are going to sit out there for a while.

Today the guy from the oxygen company is supposed to be coming by.  Also, today I need to finish going over my completed taxes and sign them and return them.  Once they are filed, I'll feel so much better.

Audrey sent me a couple new photos.  The new bedroom and bathroom that she is having added on to her house are coming along nicely.  Such excitement!  This is such a fun time for Audrey.

Here's a photo of great granddaughter Alena having her first pony ride.  In the beginning, she wasn't too sure if this was fun.  By the time the ride was over, she was having a grand time.

Well, now I think I'll shut off the heat, at least for today, and then open the door.  Pogo and I don't want to waste any of this awesome weather.  Who knows, maybe today I can plant my Chia plant.  If I do, I'll take photos to share.

On that happy note, I'll take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
