Just A Speck More Rain, Please?

August 12, 2016

Good morning.  Gosh, I was so hoping for some rain this morning, but as I look out my door, the sun is shining through the tree tops.  Ah well, I can hope.  I'm up earlier than I had hoped to be, but sleep was very difficult.  It was right around 80 degrees all through the night and very sticky.

I have so much to do here, but I keep getting sidetracked.  At least I'm lucky to be retired.  I don't have many time restrictions.  But I wanted to get so many things done before daughter Audrey got here, and it's just not happening the way I had planned.

With all the extra laundry I've been having to do because of the flea situation, I now have more piles of clean stuff to put away.  Plus I still have a couple more loads of laundry waiting to be done sometime today.  It's going to be a very busy day.

Somewhere along the way I'm going to have to find time to go grocery shopping.  I would have gone yesterday, but it is just so hot in the afternoon when Joe wants to go that I opted not to go.  Maybe I can go sometime this morning before it gets too hot.  We'll see.

I did not make a new quick page this week, so I went into my archives and found a really pretty one that I made three years ago.  Maybe some of you can use this one.  It's called "After The Rain."

Today, I'm going to go through all my blankets, and put together a whole bunch of them that I will donate to the local animal shelter.  I could put them in the Goodwill Box, but I think the shelter animals might be needing them a lot more.

My friend Rhoda sent me some old photos, and I thought I would share this one.  How many of you remember enjoying lunch seated at one of these lunch counters from 1960?  A lot of the big department stores had them.  My favorite was Woolworth's in Quincy Square.  (Massachusetts)

I have another thought provoking image that I borrowed from the web.  It really gives a person something to think about.  We have so much to be thankful for.

Well, Pogo has had his breakfast, and now he is napping.  I think I'll take this time to get dressed and who knows"  Maybe I'll take a quick trip to Walmart for a few groceries before the temps get up into the 90's.  We'll see.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

Hi Edna,

Thank you for the QP it is really adorable. I think that I will use it for a challenge that I might like to enter into. I am just getting up and so glad for my coffee this morning. I haven't had much of a taste for anything.

I love the photo of the diner. Woolworths was my favorite as well. I actually put myself thru high school by working in a diner sort of like this. It was called The Waffle House. It was much smaller than the photo that you shared, but it had about 8 to 10 stools and 8 booths. We stayed packed all the time as we served breakfast all day. We opened at 6 and closed at 2 and was closed on Mondays. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I am feeling a bit better. Still have to stay in bed a lot to stay off my foot but have color coming back into my foot of the normal color. The blues and purples are fading. The pain is less as well.

It is hot here today as well. We have had weather alerts all week for the heat advisory. It has been very hot at night. I did try to venture out last night to see the percid meteor showers. W have too much light here to see them really well and Jonathan only allowed me a few minutes outside. When I stepped out the blast of heat hit me so hard I was ready to come back inside. Tonight is supposed to be the biggest show of all. This is an Outburst year. Up to 200 an hour. It only happens every 7 to 10 years.

Cisco wants breakfast so I will close for now. Stay as cool as you can! Give Pogo lots of hugs and kisses from me and a woof and lick from Cisco... Love, Beth and Cisco.

I heard there are terrible rainshowers in another part of the USA
It causes floods and everything, and you are so desparate for a bit of rain!
It isn;t well-distributed in the world, is it?
Hope you could do your grocerie shopping in a bit comfortable temperature.
I am sure the animal shelter will be happy with your blankets. Perhaps, if you have many, you can give some to the shelter and some to the Good Box?
Pity that Audry only will stay for a week You will have to make the most of it(result: perhaps too little sleep ???)
But it will be fun to have her around for some time.
Have a wonderful day.
Hug
Kyra

I think Minnesota is hogging all your rain, but I'm not complaining...the flowers are looking good.
