Where's The Justice In This World?

June 30, 2016

Good morning.  It's another warm, sunny day here in New England, but our hearts are heavy.  Someone we all love is hurting and there's nothing any of us can do to help.  Supposedly, the law provides help for those of us who need it.  But that's not always the case.

This young lady is a beautiful sweet teenager.  She's smart, funny, caring, keeps her grades up in school, and has a job.  She loves kids and animals and crafts.  Recently she taught herself how to crochet and is making a blanket.  She''s had some pretty rough things to overcome in her short life, and she has still managed to turn out to be a wonderful person. Her hope for the future is to go to college and study pediatric oncology.   This month, she got a Certificate of Achievement for Superior Achievement in Early Education and Child Care, completed her Heartsaver CPR program, and received an award for Civic Pride & Academic  Excellence in School.

The problem:  for some reason that none of us knows, her mom does not like her nor have any use for her.   For the past six months, her mom has done whatever she could to ruin this girl's life, even taking her to court and saying that she was an unruly child who needed to be put away in a program.  A lot of lies were told in court, and none were checked out.  If the court had checked any of them out, they would have found that the girl had done nothing wrong.  However, the court took the mother's side in whatever was said and sent the girl away.

She has been back home lately for a short reprieve, but now her mom is having the court send her away again. The court will be having her moved within these next two weeks.  This young girl is devastated and is giving up.  She feels she has no reason to go on living.  We are all heartsick.   Not being family, we have no rights at all to speak up or try to help.  At one point, I hired her an attorney, but he did absolutely nothing for her.

In my wildest dreams, I cannot fathom why any mother would work so hard to destroy her daughter's life.  I haven't met anyone who would not love to step in and help, but we have no legal rights to do this.  What kind of stupid legal system is this anyway?   We are doing our best to help this young girl keep her spirits up so that she can make it to her next birthday (towards the end of Winter, and she'll be eighteen.).  If she can make it that far, we can all step in then and help make her life better.

I'm sorry to start this post with something this heavy, but we are all hurting about it.  With all the crap you hear daily on the news, you would think that there was someone in the system who would try to help a child who was truly in need and trying to make something of herself.  Nope, I guess the only persons who get all the help are the criminals.  Go figure!!

On a lighter note, here's more photos from my garden.  The lilies are starting to bloom now.  The blooms may not be lasting very long this year, but at least when one plant finishes blooming, another plant starts.

My little tomato plants are doing pretty good too so far.  They're not very tall yet, but there are three or four tomatoes already.

This morning, SIL Eddie's friend is here to do some weeding in the gardens and to mow the lawns.  The yard will be looking spiffy for the Holiday this weekend.  The mailman just came and brought me a couple of packages.  Hmmm, I wonder what they could be.  I've left them on the counter until I've finished this post.   That said, it's time for me to get dressed and start my day.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

I've Been A Busy Bee

June 29, 2016

Good morning.  Tis a bit on the gray side outside this morning, with a slight breeze.  There's a chance we'll have a bit of precipitation sometime during the day.  We had rain during the night, so I don't know if we'll get more of it today.  We'll just have to wait and see.

Yesterday, Pogo and I went to the cable store and got our new remote for the cable box. ( Later today, I'll try to set it up with my TV.)  Then in the afternoon, I proceeded to dig up all my beautiful petunias from the kiln planter outside my door.  I re-planted them into some new big pots.  This weekend, I'll find a new spot to put them until after the porch is built.

I must say, that my doorstep looks like a florist shop now, but I'm not complaining.  I love looking out my door at all the beautiful different colors.   If you look closely, you can see Pogo looking out the door.  He's watching me to make sure I don't get in the car and go off somewhere without him.  Smart doggie!!

Yesterday afternoon, I registered my daughter Deanne Marie and I for the upcoming classes for Firearm Instruction and Safety.  Deanne's birthday is this weekend, and this is what she wants for her birthday.  Then last night, daughter Audrey and I went online and ordered her upcoming flight to come here for a week in August.

Today I have another box to seal and address, and later take to the Post Office.    Joe says he will go with me and carry the boxes for me.  I've finally finished just about all of my daughter Laura Jean's shopping.  However, I may just order a few more music CD's for her.  About the only two things that Laura Jean can do is to hear and to feel.  Music is soothing and enjoyable for her, so she can't have too much music.  (Besides, everyone else gets to enjoy listening to it too!)

With the upcoming Holiday weekend, today's QP might be good for your holiday photos.  I hope you can use it.

Pretty New Plants

June 28, 2016

Good morning.  Tis another beautiful morning here in New England.  The sun goes in and out behind the clouds, and there's a lovely breeze causing my flag to dance rather gracefully.  What a beautiful sight.

Yesterday, Joe did not go to work, and Pogo had a nice turkey treat surprise mid morning.  However, this morning, my little guy has already spent a couple hours sitting in the dark near the laundry room door hoping for a glimpse of Joe.  Sorry Pogo.  Joe went to work this morning, so you'll have to wait till this afternoon for your turkey treat.

Yesterday I took some photos of the new plants, and I wrote the names down so I'd remember them.

Guara

Veronica & Delphinium

Sacina, Purple Passion and Rex Begonia  (house plants in the Fall)

Calibrachoa - Pink and Yellow

Coreopsis

Now I'll be looking for a pretty plant table for the new porch, and a shepherd's hook to attach to a corner post on the new porch.  That's where I think I'll hang the new Calibrachoa plants.  I think I'd like to pick up a couple rocking chairs and a small table too.  Oh boy, this is getting to be fun now.

Yesterday I did not get out to the cable store, so Pogo and I will have to do that either today or tomorrow.  For now, I'm learning how to watch TV with a partially working remote.  It's not so bad once you get the hang of it.

Well, that's about all my news for this morning.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

A Fun Shopping Trip

June 27, 2016

Good morning.  Tis gorgeous outside, and there's a splendid breeze.  We'll be needing that breeze because it will be hot again today.  Of course, it is summer, so I can't really complain much about temps in the 80's.

Well folks, the big girl panties seemed to fit yesterday, but Aunt Lucy's son dropped by to spend most of the day with her so we did not get to go shopping.  However, DIL Janet called to see if Pogo and I would like to go shopping for plants with her.  Of course we said Yes!

Big mistake!!  It's tough walking through a plant department and leave with nothing more than you came in with.  So we each left with full shopping carts.  Now I have to find places to plant all these beautiful new plants.  I took photos with my phone, and sent them to my laptop via email but they haven't arrived yet.

While I'm sitting here typing, I realized that one of my new plants was missing.  So I went outside and looked in the trunk of the car.  Oh my gosh, there was my missing plant tipped over on it's side.  Poor little thing!  I took it out and brought it over to sit with the other plants.  Except for losing a couple of blossoms, the plant was okay.

I went into my photo archives and pulled out these photos to share today.  They were both taken in late June 2012 while I was at work.  I have to say that this is the part of work I miss the most.  There was so much there to photograph.

I just saw a delivery truck pull up across the street, and a delivery man started walking towards my yard with a package in his hand.  I  put on my robe to go out to get the package, but could not find it.  Dwarf Helen came out with me, and we both looked.  She finally found the package on the ground near the front corner of the house.

I hope this is not going to be Walmart's new way of delivering packages.  They just started a new program for two day delivery for $49 a year.  I joined it, but am not impressed with today's delivery.  It was only a partial order, so I'll be interested to see how the rest of the order gets delivered.

Yesterday, the remote control for my cable box stopped working properly.  The "on/off" button and the "volume" buttons do not work anymore.  They were working fine earlier in the morning, but then they just stopped.  After spending quite a long time on the phone with a technician from the cable company, it was decided that I needed a new remote.  So, I will have to make a trip to the cable store either later today or tomorrow to pick up the new remote.

Well that's about all my news for this morning.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

It's Time To Dig Out My Big Girl Panties

June 26, 2016

Good morning.  I opened my door a little while ago, and oh my it is simply gorgeous outside.  Joe filled the bird feeder a little while ago, and there are lots of little birds enjoying their feast.  What a great way to start the day.

There's not much happening around here this weekend.  Folks are just sitting back and enjoying the nice weather.  Today though, Pogo and I are planning to pick up Aunt Lucy and go shopping.  After that, we'll have lunch at the park and watch the water birds.  It all depends on how Aunt Lucy is feeling.  All her bumps and bruises from the car accident are quite achy.

Today will be a first for me.  I have a "thing" about driving to Boston.  I don't like it, and I haven't done it for nearly forty years.  I only go if someone else will do the driving.  Well, today I have to do it by myself.  It's the only way I'm going to be able to see my Aunt.  I've dug out my big girl panties, and I hope they still fit!

All my beautiful irises have gone by, but soon the Japanese Irises will be blooming.  Here's a photo of one of the yellow irises that were so pretty in the little garden by the kitchen windows.  These were of the normal size and height.

While shopping at Walmart this past Friday, I found this new little gadget.  It's a "Selfie Wireless Shutter Button."   Sometimes I have to get very creative trying to take photos of Pogo, so I thought I would give this a try.  Hmmm, we'll see.

This morning I've been watching old re-runs of Law and Order.  It's amazing how many episodes I either did not see or have forgotten.  I'm just thankful that they are still being run because I enjoy this program.  (and all the re-runs)

Well, now I think it's time to call Aunt Lucy to make sure she is up to going out today.  Then Pogo and I will get ready to head out.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Gosh, If Only All Summer Could Be Like Today

June 24, 2016

Good morning.  Tis another gorgeous day here in my little part of New England.  The sun is shining, there's a gorgeous breeze and the temperature is in the low 70's at the moment.  By noon, it should get up to around 80F degrees.  It just doesn't get much better than that.

I finally caught up with Aunt Lucy yesterday afternoon by phone.  Unfortunately, the news was not so good.  Earlier in the day, she had been out doing errands and was in a nasty car accident.  It seems some fellow cut her off when she was making a right hand turn.

She insisted that she was okay though, except for some bruises.  Oh gosh, she's going to be very sore for the next few days.  Aunt Lucy said that one of her sons was going to take her to the car today to get her belongings out of it.  (The car was totaled).   He said that he would take her car shopping soon.   If she is feeling up to it, Pogo and I will go pick her up Sunday and  take her out for a while.

I got a call back from the contractor, and they are going to start working on my porch the first week in July.  At least that's what the man said on the phone.  I think he was going to give me a later start date, but I reminded him that his contract says that all work will be finished by the end of that week.  So now I just wait.

I have a lovely photo to share today.  This is grandson Kevin's sweetie, Janicee, holding great grandbaby Aurora.   Just look at those beautiful smiles!  Have I mentioned lately how blessed I am?

I was looking at some sales flyers a couple weeks ago, and it occurred to me that clothing designers have two different standards for designing men's and women's clothes.  For example, take a look at videos of any big event and notice how everyone is dressed.  The women are dressed provocatively, with see through or skimpy outfits, and the men are covered entirely with non-see through clothing.

Even in bathing suits, the men's suits seem to afford more coverage.  I pasted these two ads together to show the difference.  You could probably make three or four women's bathing suits from just one pair of men's bathing trunks.  I know it's no big deal, just thought I would mention it.

Today I need to call the dealer where I bought my car, and change the appointment for my car's check up and new safety sticker.  My appointment is currently for the same day that the contractors are supposed to start working on my porch.  I was going to take Pogo to the beauty salon that same day, but I've changed his appointment to next Friday.

This weekend I will have to dig the petunias out of the kiln planter and re-pot them.  The kiln is going to be moved to make way for the porch, and I don't want the petunias to be harmed during the move.  I've already bought some new pots for the plants.  The lilac bush needs to be moved too, but the contractor said that his crew would move it for me.  Hmmm, carefully, I hope.

Now I need to get busy and start working on my shopping list.  I promised to take Joe grocery shopping later today.  I guess we'll go to Walmart because we need to pick up a new spray nozzle for the hose.   Before I take my leave, let me share a photo that I took this morning of my pink Knock Out roses.

That's my news for this morning.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

I Apologize For Google's Boo Boo

June 23, 2016

Good morning.  The birds, one squirrel and two tiny chipmunks are scurrying around outside my door gathering food.  They probably all have babies to feed, so I'll be needing to go outside and re-fill the feeders.  I also scatter some seed on the ground for the ground feeders.  Today I'll add some peanuts to the seed.

I want to thank everyone for all the wonderful birthday wishes.  They really did brighten up my day, however my birthday is not in June.  I don't know how Google came up with that information, but I have tried several times unsuccessfully to change it.  I'm apologizing for their boo boo because my birthday is in November.  As soon as I figure out how to post something on my own FB page, I will post an announcement there.  (Maybe I'll call Jazzy.  She knows just about everything about this phone.)

On the plus side, It was a fun birthday.  Last night, DIL Janet came by with a birthday cake, presents and a balloon.  There has been a lot happening in her life lately, and she thought maybe she was wrong about the date and had forgotten my birthday.

This is my balloon, and we ate the cake.  We shared some of the cake with a couple of the dwarfs too.  I tried to give the presents back to her, but she insisted I keep them.  Tonight I shall wear the beautiful new jammies, and I've tucked the gift certificate away for a future shopping trip.  Next week, I shall make something special for our supper.  (She loves fried clams, so maybe?)

Deanne and Eddie came by yesterday afternoon.  This, of course, made Pogo's day just perfect.  Aunty Dee is his favorite person in the whole world (besides me).  He gets so excited when he sees her car pull into the driveway, and he runs to greet her as she comes in the house.  It's really a happy sight to see.

Today I have a couple photos of one of our tiny chipmunks enjoying lunch at his favorite diner.  Some of the birds eat from this feeder too, but the little chipmunks really love it.  This photo shows Chippy climbing up the pole to get to the food. (in the new feeder)  The second photo is a close up, showing how carefully he looks around to make sure no one has spotted him.

As you can see, we enjoy the wildlife here in my yard.  It's a big yard, and we don't mind sharing it with all the little critters.

Today I have a new quick page for you.  We have some "sailors" in our family, so I thought it would be fun to play with a couple of  "seafaring" kits; one from Kyra at Russian Dutch Heart Designs (Sailors And The Sea), and one from Tiny Turtle Designs (Sea Faeries).

Now I'm off to call Aunt Lucy again.  She was out yesterday when I called.  Probably off volunteering somewhere.  This is one amazing lady.  Pogo and I are wanting to take her to a couple of our favorite yarn and craft stores.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Chasing The Blues Away

June 22, 2016

Good morning.  Here I am posting late again.  I've been up for quite a while, but first I had to feed Pogo, feed the birds, check the emails, and goodness knows what else.  It's amazing how so many little things can become so time consuming.   On the other hand, I'm quite thankful to be able to do these things.

Yesterday was a sort of lost day.  Actually, it was sort of a "blue funk" day.  The weather is gorgeous so these funky blues don't last very long.  Thank goodness!  Just walking around the yard helps to chase the blues away.

A couple weeks ago, I took some photos of the little white blossoms on the big rose bush outside my door.  This bush has tiny white flowers, and was the root stock for what once blossomed as a beautiful yellow rose bush.

I have to share a funny story about this rose bush.  I just went to Google images to see if I could find the name of this little white Multiflora rose, and it brought up several images including one from one of my older blog posts.  Hmmm, very interesting!

As I sit here and look out my door, I'm noticing that the sun has gone behind some clouds and a little breeze is blowing.  Maybe we'll get a little rain shower?  My plants will be ever so happy.  Joe will too because he won't have to water everything later.

There's really not very much happening around here right now.  I think I'll spend some time today working on the Scarlett afghan.  I'm down to the last twenty six rows to finish it.  It should have been finished quite a while ago, but I have not been in the mood to crochet.

I think I need to call Aunt Lucy and see if maybe we can't find some fun mischief to get into.  Now wouldn't that be fun!!  Yup, I think that's what I'll do.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a splendid day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Getting A Really Late Start Today

June 21, 2016

Good morning (for six more minutes).  It wasn't a very good night for sleeping.  The pain is going away, but the air just isn't great for breathing.  Seems like I was up and down all night long.  Around 8:30 this morning, I finally dozed off for a while.  God bless Pogo for putting up with this.

During the night, there was a lot of thunder and lightning, followed by rain.  However, by daybreak, most of the rain had subsided.  Now the sun is shining, and there's a lovely breeze.

Yesterday was rather quiet.  The only thing I accomplished was ordering a new Blog Book.  I must have posted a lot of photos because this book will only cover the first four months of the year.  This will be my nineteenth blog book.

There are a lot of Japanese Iris plants coming up in the garden this year.  They are budding now, and hopefully they will blossom soon.  I went into my archives for a couple photos of these iris.  These photos were taken shortly after some rain.  The first is a new bud, and the second shows how gorgeous it is when it finally blooms.

It's well past noon now, and I want to phone Pogo's beauty salon and make an appointment for him.  His hair is getting rather long, and it gets harder to brush out the hair on his chest without hurting him.  Because he has no jaw or teeth, he tends to drool on his chest a lot when he is resting.  Besides, he'll be more comfortable without all that thick hair during these warm days.

So, on that note, I'll take my leave.  Till tomorrow folks, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy Birthday Gary Jr.

June 20, 2016

Good morning.  Tis another gorgeous day here in my little part of New England.  It's also my son's birthday.  Gary Jr, I hope your day is filled with peace and happiness.  Have a wonderful birthday.  I love you.

Today will be another quiet day here.  The pain is not so bad this morning, and I'm hoping that all this resting will get rid of all of it.  I've been using my "Giraffe Massager" and I think it is helping.

Isn't he just the cutest?  Grandson Kevin gave this to me for Christmas, and I love it.  You just snuggle the giraffe against the "hurt" and push the button on his foot.   It also helps a lot when the muscles in my neck are hurting.   And oh my, it is sooooo soft!

Late yesterday afternoon SIL Eddie and grandson Bobby came by for a short visit.  It was so good to see Bobby.  He works a lot of hours so I don't get many chances to visit with him.  Gosh, he's such a tall handsome fellow.  Where have all the years gone?

There's not much news for today, but I do have a photo of the Mint Julep Rose.  So far, all the blooms are a beautiful lemon yellow color.  Just gorgeous!!

Now I think I'll retire to my lounge chair and crochet a bit while I watch some of the old TV game shows.  One of my favorites, Match Game, is on now.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy Fathers Day

June 19, 2016

Good morning.  Mother Nature has blessed us with another gorgeous day, and I thank her.  Friday night, we had a bit of thunder and lightning and a decent dose of rain.  Since then, it's been warm, sunny and bright.

Speaking of Friday night, oh my I had a wonderful time at the cabaret.  It was a fun performance, and Jazzy was absolutely fabulous!  My one regret is that I was not able to get any decent photos.  But I do have some great new memories to cherish.

Today I want to wish all the Fathers and Grandfathers who are with us and those who are not, a fabulous and Happy Fathers Day.  Guys, it's a great day to go fishing, or play golf, or just relax.  Wink, wink!  Hope it's a great day for you.

Did you know that seniors can earn property tax credit by doing volunteer work for their city or town?  There was an article about it in the newspaper yesterday.  I was not aware of this so I'm going to have to look into this to see if it is available in my town.

Blogger is starting to act up so I'll take my leave here.  First let me share a couple of images that I borrowed from the web.  They show a couple of special Dads spending time with their young 'uns.

Now I'm off to relax a bit.  So till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Got Stinky Shoes?

June 17, 2016

Good morning.  It's a glorious day outside my door.  We have today and tomorrow, then Spring will be done.  It may have started out rather cool, but oh my it turned out to be really splendid.

The Lawn Doctor guy was here early this morning to spray for ticks and mosquitos.  After he left, I went outside to take a few photos of the plants on my steps.  The first two photos are petunias, and the last photo is my mosquito plant (Citron).  I never realized that it had tiny purple flowers.

Yesterday, I got to mail off one of my boxes on the way to Walmart.  Then I picked up my meds and did a bit of grocery shopping.  I also picked up some colored pencils and an adult coloring book for a friend who is a bit down in the dumps.  Coloring always seems to calm one's nerves.

Today will be quiet.  I'm giving my back and legs a lot of rest because tonight I'm going out with Deanne and Eddie.  We are going to watch Jazzy perform in Sweet Indulgence (a tantalizing adult cabaret).  Here's a photo of the entire cast, with Jazzy sitting next to the director (on the floor in front).

Today, I'll leave you with a tip on how to stop shoe odor.  Tea bags absorb moisture and stink.  First, wipe the inside of each shoe or sneaker with a cotton ball moistened with rubbing alcohol to kill bacteria.  Next, place a dry, unused tea bag in each shoe, and let them sit overnight.  (info is thanks to AARP magazine)

Well, that's my news for today.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a magnificent weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

I'm A Wee Bit Cranky Today

June 16, 2016

Good morning.  Outside my door, it is warm with a slight breeze, and the sun keeps playing peek a boo with the clouds.  I am wicked tired this morning.  Probably it is because I did not sleep well during the night.  I had taken a pain pill, but by the time it kicked in it had already worn off.   So what else is new?

Tuesday when I went out to do some errands, I bought a six pack of beer.  That night I decided to have a glass of beer instead of a pain pill.  Well, before I could even drink half of the beer, I was snoozing away.  This is probably what I should have done last night.

Has anyone noticed the way television programs are going?  If they are not extremely violent, they are leaning toward nudity.  The other night I watched one of my favorite game shows, "Idiotest" and was super surprised when the contestants and the host were all nude.  Well, the host was wearing a sports jacket.  It was a turn off for me.

I was already beginning to not like the host because every time he speaks, his comments have double meanings (sex) or they were downright explicit.  Not everyone enjoys these kind of comments coming from a TV host, nor does everyone enjoy watching the host and the contestants prance about naked.

A while back, Project Runway All Stars had an episode where all the models were totally nude.  This not only made me uncomfortable, but the designers were a bit uncomfortable too.  If this continues, I may have to give up another favorite program.

There is also a Naked Dating program, and of course, Naked And Afraid.  I don't watch either of these.  Folks, I'm not a prude, but if I wanted to watch nudity when I turned on my TV, I would pay for the premium channels.  I don't, so I don't.  Whatever happened to family type shows?  You know, where everyone is wearing clothes, and the violence is kept down to bare minimum?   I guess pretty soon I won't be needing cable TV anymore.

Can you tell I'm a wee bit cranky today?  Sorry 'bout that.  I'm so glad I have Pogo.  Even when I'm crotchety, he always manages to put a smile on my face.  We play a bit and then he snuggles up to me.  How can I stay cranky after that?  He's a huge blessing in a tiny curly package.

I have a photo of our red Knock Out roses to share.  Aren't these pretty?  This year, they are loaded with buds and blossoms.

While I was going through some old photos, I came across this one of some dolls that I made several years ago.  I'm thinking that I might like to make a couple more of them for the last two babies born.  If I do, I'll wait till I get the new sewing machine.  These two dolls were all hand stitched, and daughter Audrey helped me make them.

I made these dolls for granddaughter Jasmine (on the left) and great granddaughter Hailey (on the right).  The dolls are easy to make, so if anyone wants to try making one, let me know and I'll post the directions for you.

Today, I think I'll put a few more rows on my afghan.  There's only twenty nine more rows to go till it's finished.  Woo Hoo!!  This will make four done and one still to go.  I can manage this.  Later after Joe gets home from work, we'll go grocery shopping.  I have meds that have been ready for pickup all week.  If I wait much longer to get them, they will probably be put back into stock.

Well, that's my news for this morning.  Now I'm going to curl up in my lounge chair and try to catch a little nap.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy Birthday Bobby

June 15, 2016

Good morning.  Tis another gorgeous day here in New England.  And today is Bobby's birthday.  He is my first born grandchild, and he was the twinkle in Papa's eye.  (my Michael)  Happy Birthday Bob O Link.  I hope your special day is filled with laughter and love.

Yesterday, SIL Eddie and his friend Cliff came by and finished the upstairs bathroom floor.  Then while Eddie was mowing the lawns, Cliff helped me to clip the peonies to plant sticks.  Here's a photo I borrowed from Google to show the clips that I bought.

Pogo and I went out to do a couple errands yesterday, and in our travels I noticed a couple other yards with droopy peonies.  Of course, there were some yards where the peonies stood upright.  Hmmm, maybe mine are old like me.  If that's the case, then I guess it's alright if they droop a bit.

In the afternoon, I spent some time online looking through all the music on Amazon.  I was trying to pick out some music for my daughter Laura Jean.  I finally settled on a nice assortment of Relaxing Classical Music, Linda Ronstadt, Brenda Lee, Tim McGraw, Love Songs of The Sixties and Relaxing Nature Music.  Music makes my Laura Jean happy.

I found a photo on Google that I just had to borrow and share here.  Baby animals are just so darn cute and precious.  Look at this little sweetie taking a nap.  All that swimming about plum wore him out.

Today will be a quiet day.  My body seems to be needing a bit of rest.  The foot is still a bit sore, but is slowly getting better.  Now there is a pain across the back of my hips that has been acting up since yesterday morning.  I was rather active yesterday, so maybe a nice slow day today will help get rid of it.  It's nothing earth shattering, just really more of a nuisance.

I also have a new quick page for you.  With Father's Day coming up, this might be a nice one to show off photos of your Dad.

Here is your download link:

Well now I think I'll settle in my comfy lounge chair.  Maybe I'll color for a while.  This is very relaxing.  And maybe I'll put a few more rows on the Scarlet afghan.  I've been slacking off on this lately. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a beautiful day.

A Tiny House Will Be Just Fine For Me And Pogo

June 14, 2016

Good morning.  There's another beautiful day outside my door.  We have been blessed with some really fabulous weather, and I am very thankful for that.

Well, yesterday's work in the upstairs bathroom took a bit longer than expected, but most of the work was finished up by 6 pm last evening.  Today, the guys will come back and put down the new tiles.  I was not able to get out yesterday to do my errands, so I'll give it a try today.

Did you know that the summer cold has a fluffy new enemy?  According to the AARP magazine, it is called the marshmallow.  The gelatin in a toasted marshmallow coats the throat and relieves irritation and pain.  Just don't eat them too hot.

Here's another great idea for some of us old folks.  A Granny Pod is set up (built) on your relative's property not too far from the main house, and is hooked into the existing power, water and sewer.  The Granny Pod has hand rails, defibrillators, first aid supplies, lighted floor boards and a soft floor to minimize damage from falls.  These can be quite pricey, with an average price range of $85,000 to $125,000.

However, the Granny Pod is basically a tiny house with lots of medical equipment.  You can have a tiny house (perfect for any age) built from $20,000 or less to as high as you can afford for the features that you might want.  I think I would like the tiny house with a bedroom on the main floor.  No loft for me.  I think as long as the tiny house is set up not too far from the main house, you probably don't need all that pricey medical equipment.  But of course, each person's wants and needs are quite different.

Today I have more photos from my garden.  There's a medium purple iris, a white rhododendron, a pink rhododendron and a pink Knock Out rose.

SIL Eddie picked up more plant stakes for me, so today we will prop up a few more of the heavy peony blooms.  Hopefully, this will help.  If not, at least I tried.  Grandson Kevin might be coming by today too, so maybe I'll see if he will go to the Post Office with me so that he can help carry the boxes.

Pogo's appetite isn't quite up to snuff lately, so I'll have to think up something tasty to tempt him with.  I am not happy when my little guy isn't eating.  He acts like he wants to eat, but when I give him a plate of food, he just sniffs it and walks away.  Hopefully he is just being picky.

Well, that's my news for this morning.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Saving Your Memories

June 13, 2016

Good morning.  It's looking like another gorgeous sunny day here in my little part of New England.  Our weather for this week and next is rather a perfect way to transition from Spring to Summer.

Today I want to share something that I read in the AARP magazine about more ways to be prepare for a disaster.  Transfer your personal photos and videos to a flash drive and attach the drive to your home keys.  You can save thousands of photos and many videos to a 64 GB drive, which costs under $20.  Next to your family, your precious memories are what you least want to lose in a disaster.

Yesterday, I transferred all my photos and videos from my cell phone over to my flash drive.  I've started taking some of them off the phone, and today I will delete a lot more of them from the phone.   You might want to be careful of what you take photos of with your phone.  Google seems to have a knack for going into your phone and publishing all your photos on Facebook.  This is not quite fair and I'm not really happy about it.  Google does not respect anyone's privacy.

There are so many buds opening on the light pink peony plant, that I went outside and picked one of the buds and brought it in for all to share.  In this photo, I'm holding the partially opened bud in my hand.  Imagine how big this will be when it is fully opened!

The Mint Julep rose bush will be blossoming soon.  It has tiny light yellow buds on it.

Our little birdies have been quite hungry lately, and we fill up the feeders twice a day now.  One little fellow who seems to really love the new feeder is a resident chipmunk.  He checks it out several times a day to make sure he got all the food.  Dwarf Helen took this photo from the kitchen window.

I managed to get a couple loads of laundry done yesterday afternoon, and while waiting for the clothes to wash, I tried to delete a large pile of junk mail.  I must say that I eradicated most of it.  However, I'll have to do a bit more work on it today.

SIL Eddie and his friend Cliff are on the way here to start working on the upstairs bathroom.  The floor needs a bit of work, and then they will replace all of the floor tiles.  I think maybe it's time for me to get dressed before the guys get here.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a beautiful day.

Only A Week Of Spring Left

June 12, 2016

Good morning.  It's a beautiful sunny, breezy day, but we my have a few clouds and a drop or two of precipitation  This whole upcoming week is supposed to be in the 70's.  Next week, the 80's are supposed to move in along with the start of summer.  Can you believe it?  Spring is almost over.

It's been quiet around here, and we finally got some of that rain that has been coming our way all week.  The weather man says that we are officially in drought.  SIL Eddie came by to put the new supports around my peony plants.  Hopefully, this will help the blooms to last a bit longer.  Usually, they are so heavy that they fall down to the ground.

Here are photos of buds that are opening.  As you can see, they are as big as saucers.  The dark rose colored bud is about three inches across.  You an imagine how big they will be when they are opened all the way.

I also took a photo of one of the iris plants so that you could see how tall they grow.  The fence in the background is six feet tall.

In the afternoon, I did a bit of grocery shopping, and picked up a few more pretty things for my daughter Laura Jean.  This week I need to mail off some boxes.  Clothes for Laura Jean, and birthday gifts for my son Gary Jr.   According to my emails (order recipts), it seems that Pogo has been doing a bit of shopping too.   He's a good doggie, my little Pogo.

By evening, I was really tired and fell asleep shortly after our supper.  Today is looking to be a rather quiet day.  It's nice out, so I think I'll take Pogo out for a walk around the yard for a while.  We'll probably both need naps after that.  haha.

Well, that's my news for today.  So, till tomorrow. Y'all have a fantabulous day.
