HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYBODY!

October 31, 2011

BOO!!  Here we go again.  I've already started this post and after about three paragraphs, Blogger wiped the whole thing out.  Are they playing Halloween tricks on us?  Not nice, Blogger!!

There is still no power at work, so we have been using a wood stove for heat and cooking and candles for light.  Because I needed to photograph a candle for my photo class, I took a photo of one of the candles I used at work last night.  I must say, that candles give everything a nice glow.

You won't believe this, but even the cell tower in that town where I work was down last night.  This morning it was back to working.   One good thing, I learned how to work the wood stove.  If it is set right, the wood burns for seven or eight hours.  And, it warmed the whole house comfortably.

I also have a couple of photos from yesterday morning to share.  I had the chance to stop and take a few shots of some nice scenery on my way home.  I especially love how the trees looked.

I've been trying for a very long time to get a photo of the flocks of geese as they head South, but I am usually driving in traffic, or worse, I don't have my camera with me when I see the geese.  Yesterday morning I caught a glimpse of a small flock.  I was driving so I just picked up the camera, pointed it out the window, and took my chances that I might get a photo.  Here's what I got.  Not great, but not bad.

Folks, I was going to post a freebie for you but I need to upload it and get the link.  So I will post it for you tomorrow.  In the meanwhile, if you're out on the roads today, be careful of all the little ghosties and ghoulies with their candy pumpkins.

We don't get any trick or treaters here but I remember when we used to have lots of little kids dressed in all sorts of adorable costumes coming around for their treats.  Nowadays, on Halloween Eve, Tootsie and I just hop on my broom and fly around the world.  It's quite an exhilarating ride. If you look up at the sky late tonight, you just might see us as we fly past the moon.  If I see you out in your yard, I'll wave.

Now it's time to rustle up a bit of breakfast for myself and Tootsie, then it's nap time for Bonzo here.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantastically scary (but safe) Halloween Eve.

Hugs, Edna B.

Oh My! Such A Night!!

October 30, 2011

Wow, what a night we had here in New England.  I was at work, and a little past midnight I heard a loud CRACK!  I thought, "Oh Oh, who the hell is shooting a gun?"  However, after a bit of investigation, I found that it was a tree in the back yard that had cracked and come down.  At the same time this happened, I saw bright lights through the sky light window.  So now I'm wondering if we also had lightening or if there was a live electrical wire somewhere out there.

On my way to work last night, it rained so hard that there were puddles on flat streets.  It started to let up a bit by the time I arrived at work, and in a few hours everything outside was completely covered in snow and ice.  For hours, the heavy snow fell, and the gusty winds blew.  A regular Nor'easter!

There was so much moisture in the snow that the weight of it pulled down a lot of power lines, broke huge limbs off trees, and had trees and bushes along the side of the road hanging out into the street.  Some of them froze in the snow and ice right on the road.

I was smart though.  When I got to work last night, I parked my car in the barn so I wouldn't have to dig it out in the morning.  At 2:55 am, we lost all power and phones (at work).  Guess who could not get her car out of the barn this morning?  Yup!  Lil ole me.  The barn door operates on electricity.  With no power, the remote could not open the door.

I called the Mrs' son.  He lives down the street a little ways, and he said that his power had gone four hours earlier than ours did.  He came over this morning with his plow to clean out the driveway and open the barn door so that I could get my car.

One end of the street was closed due to downed trees, but the end I needed to travel was fairly okay.  There were large tree limbs down across the street all over the place, and trees in yards demolished.   These are a couple of photos of the road I traveled to go home, and another photo of a tree that was totally demolished in someone's front yard.

Daylight is beginning when I leave to go home so the sky is really beautiful in places.  At one point, I had to pull over and get out of my car to take photos of the sky.  The sun was beginning to rise, and the sky was simply gorgeous.  See if you don't agree with me.

When I got home, Joe and one of the other dwarfs was outside just finishing up shoveling out the driveway.   These guys are good to me.  But then I'm nice too.   I brought them home some hot coffee from Dunkin Donuts.  When I got out of my car I noticed some damage to one of my gentle giants.  (trees)  Joe said that last night they heard a huge crack!  Almost like an explosion.  It was a huge limb on the tree that had snapped from the weight of the snow and ice.  Here's my tree.

See the big portion of the limb that snapped, and even the bark is stripped off a big portion of the limb.  Gosh, I hate to see these beautiful big trees getting hurt.  This portion of the tree is way up high, and I don't think we can reach it to bring that limb down.  I'll have to wait and see what we can do.

Joe went out early this morning so try to shake some of the ice and snow off my Japanese Red Maple tree.  The poor darling's branches were hanging way down to the ground and stuck there with ice.  Joe cleared the ice, and then had to climb up onto part of the tree to shake some more of the snow and ice out of the tree.  He knows that I reallly love this tree.  So, thank you, Joe!!

Now I think I will see about having a little nap.  I did not get any winks last night, and I have to go back to work tonight.  Till tomorrow, Y'all stay warm, and have a magnificent day.

Hugs, Edna B.

p.s.  We were very lucky as our area here at home did not lose any power.  Thank you, thank you.

I Love Surprises In The Mail

October 29. 2011

Good morning.  It's gray and damp here in my little part of the world.  Today's temperature (I've heard) is supposed to be about 47 degrees F.  (Right now we are at 39.)  Today should be windy with rain and snow on and off; and, starting tonight the snow will get heavier.  Sunday is also calling for snow, rain and wind.  I'm so thrilled about this I could spit up fur balls!

I'm hoping that Monday night's weather clears up enough for our ride.  Tootsie and I look forward to our broom ride around the world on Halloween.  I will have to check her rain slicker to make sure it still fits.  I was shopping the net to find a new slicker in pink or orange for her, but so far I have not found one.

I did, however, find a new place to order new hoodies for Tootsie.  They come in all colors, so I'm going to see about getting her a few new ones.  I need to see if her winter jacket still fits too.  Her little bones are getting more fragile and I like to make sure she is warm enough.  I know how the cold and wet makes my old bones feel.

Today I have a photo of one tiny little Pink that stood up to Thursday night's snow.   I tell you, it does the heart good to look out and spot one little pink flower poking through all the white snow.  I also have a photo of one of the Mrs. beautiful floral arrangements.

Yesterday, I got an adorable birthday card in the mail from Kyra.  Inside was a wonderful magnetic bookmark.  I have never seen one of these, but I can surely use it.  Thank you so much, my friend.  I shall think of you everytime I open my book.

Now it is time to get dressed and give Tootsie her morning meds.  I have to go out and do a couple of errands too.  Here's hoping the yucky weather will hold off for a few hours.  (Keep dreaming, Edna.)  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

It's Too Early For Tricks!

October 28, 2011

Good morning!  Mother Nature was busy during the night playing early Halloween tricks on us.  I should have looked out the window about twenty minutes before leaving for work this morning because I'd have found that my car was covered with snow and ice.  Needless to say, I was a little bit late for work this morning because it took a while to clear all my windows.

Weather is funny, though.  At the moment, the sun is shining brightly and some of the snow is beginning to melt.  Don't get excited though!  Later today, the temps will go down into the COLD COLD zone and stay there for a while.  Who knows how long.

I took a moment to run outside and get a few photos of this first snowfall.  Not so much the snow, but how the flowers are coping with it.

Here's a shot of the scarescrow and pumpkins next door.  Luckily, a huge tree in the front yard protected them from being covered with very much snow.

I spent yesterday afternoon going over my photo class lessons to get caught up.  I'm only one lesson behind.  Actually, I did the lesson but I haven't posted it yet.  My bad!  I need to buckle down though because I like to stay ahead of the assignments.  I also need to finish up my part of the new collab kit for November.  Today, if the Mrs has a nap, I have one of my new camera books with me to study.

Now I want to do a bit of blog reading before the Mrs awakes and wants her breakfast.  Till tomorrow, Y'all stay warm and have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Good Day For Memories

October 27, 2011

Tis a bit gray and wet here but it's a good morning anyway.  I'm here.  That's always a good sign that it's a good morning.  As long as I have life in me, it's definitely a good morning.

I must tell you that I started this post about two hours ago and then I got sidetracked.  I had made a new rose photo art and while I was deciding whether to post it today or wait, a lot of memories came flooding back.  So I brought the photo art up in to Photoshop and used it as a background for the memories.  I call this "Roses In December".

Left to right, Michael has been gone since November, 2007;  my brother Artie, October, 2010; and my daughter Kerri Anne, February 2005.  The losses have been quite heavy, but oh, the memories are so sweet.

The other day I had stopped to take some photos of the sky.  It was filled with such gorgeous fluffy white clouds that I just coulnd't resist.

While I was shooting these photos, I tried once again to photograph the sun.  I have never been able to get a good shot of the sun because it is so bright.  But this time, I was armed with some new ideas that I learned in Hummie's Photo Class about Spot Metering and Exposure Lock.  So here is the same sky with a fantastic sun.

Tell me, isn't this really cool?  My secret?  Just before shooting the photo, focus on something darker (the ground or a dark wooden post) while holding the shutter button halfway down to lock the exposure, then re-focus on the sun and press the shutter button all the way down.  Voila!  A fantastico sun!

This is just not my morning for posting.  In between uploading these two photos, someone knocked on my door and Tootsie gave me a gift in the form of something odorous on the scatter rug out in the laundry room.  So now I had to tend to the person at the door, clean up this most wonderful gift, sweep the floor, put down a new scatter rug, and then pop the soiled rug into the washing maching.

This is probably a good time for me to finish up here, and see about some lunch for my adorable Tootsie.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Run, Turkey, Run!

October 26, 2011

It's only 6 am and it's still quite dark outside.  I have just turned on the weather channel in time to watch the mess in Colorado with all the new snowfall.   Some places are getting up to a foot.  Yuks!  The worst part is that some of that snow will be here in a couple of days.  I was a fool to think our Autumn weather might last for a little while longer.  Technically, Winter does not start for another couple of months, but for some reason the weather fairies don't know this!

Folks, I have to say that yesterday's visit with the nutritionist turned out quite nice.  I was prepared for her to tell me why I have to start eating soy beans and yogurt, but she did not do this.  Instead, she wrote down all the things that I do eat and enjoy, and showed me ways to eat them to lower my cholesterol and maybe even lose weight.  What a plesant surprise!

As promised, here are some photos of Monday's turkeys running as fast as their little legs will carry them to get away from me.  Needless to say, I had to do a little bit of running too in order to get some photos.  These guys just don't like the camera!

I'll have to keep going back to the place where we found all these turkeys in hoes of getting photos of the Toms.  A couple of years ago, I was able to photograph a couple of Toms with their tail feathers all spread.  They were just gorgeous!

Okay, that's it for the turkeys for a while. Yesterday, on my way home from my appointment, I got some nice photos, but I will share them tomorrow.   Today, Eddie and I have to go shopping for a few things for the house.  I know, it's never ending with an old house like mine.  But I'm so thankful that I do have a house.

Now it's time to check on the Mrs again, and then start packing up my things.  The Mrs celebrated her 94th birthday Monday, and their are some gorgeous bouquets that I want to photograph before I go home this morning.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Tootsie Has A Nutritionist And Now It's My Turn!

October 25, 2011

I can see through the blinds on my new door that the sun is shining.  That's good because I have to go out this morning to do a couple or errands and keep an appointment with a nutritionist.  She is going to try to talk me into a better way of eating.  Mostly she will probably want me to eat a lot of stuff that I never ever put into my mouth.

It seems that I need to lower my cholesterol numbers, and my diet isn't doing it.  I think that maybe losing a few more pounds might help.  That is something I will work on between now and Spring time.

Here's a photo of my new door.  Unfortunately, I forgot to close the blinds first, but I think it looks quite nice.  Great job, Eddie!

Yesterday afternoon, Joe came in from work so excited.  It seems he spotted a large group of turkeys out for a stroll on his way home and wanted to share them with me.  I grabbed my camera (still with my slippers on) and he and I went off to see if the turkeys were still there.

We found a group of seven turkeys munching away in someone's yard, so I ignored the "no trespassing" sign and sort of ran slipper footed across the large lawn to photograph the turkeys.     As you can see from this next photo, the yard was huge. This just shows the front part of the yard (and in the middle, that's my car.) The turkeys and me were at the very back of the yard.

Let me tell you, these are not the friendliest of birds. Depending the mood they are in, they will either peck you till you cry "uncle" or run away into the woods.  I was lucky, they took one look at me and started walking, then running across the back of the yard and finally into the woods.  Here are just a few pix of the turkeys.

I got some neat shots of them galloping away from me, but I'll save those for tomorrow.  It's time now to get Tootsie her morning meds and rustle up something for us to eat.  Pretty soon it will be time to get ready for my appointment.  Oh joy!  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Another Busy Day Here

October 24, 2011

It's quite cool outside this morning, but at least the sun is shining so we can hope that it will warm up soon.  According to the weatherman, it's supposed to get up to about 60 degrees F.  Today and tomorrow look to be our last couple of days at this temperature.  Then it gets colder, colder, colder. Brrrrr!

The furnace clean out man is here working on the burner.  After this, we shall have heat.  Yeahhhhh!  Much as I hate the fuel bills for  the next seven months, I hate a cold house even more.  I guess this is the price for living in beautiful New England.

This must be my year for "stupid"!  Last night after the Mrs went to bed, I turned on my laptop and had a wonderful time designing.  I was having such a good time, that I did not notice the little battery icon that was showing very very low.  I was just getting ready to save what I was working on when my laptop went black.  Dead like doorknob!!  For the life of me, I could not figure out my problem.  But then a bell went off in my brain and I realized that my battery had gone dead.

I looked into my carry bag to get the charger cord, and yup!  You got it!  It wasn't there.  It was back at home sitting on the chair where I had set it while I was packing my work bag.  DUH!  This week, I am going to buy me an extra cord and leave it in my bag.  This will not happen again!

This morning I took a couple of photos as I was leaving work.  The first photo is to show the sun rising behind the trees across the street.  And the second photo shows the frost on the barn roof.  Frost already!!  My car windows were frosted over too.  If I say so myself, it was just a tad bit too cool!!

Well, the burner man has just finished up and Son in Law has arrived to put up my new door.  I will leave you with a freebie as promised.  I call this QP "The Ghost Of Summer".  I hope you can use it.

Here is your download link for EB - QP 070:

Oh Dear! It's Time To Turn On The Heat!

October 23, 2011

Good morning.  Tootsie and I are up early this morning after a long night of blissful sleep.  Yesterday's plans got changed around because Eddie couldn't make it.  So I enjoyed lots of design play on my laptop and was able to turn in early enough to watch a bit of TV and then nod off with the Sandman.

It's quite chilly this morning, only about 47 degrees F.  Hopefully, it will reach it's full potential today at about 65F.  From here on in, the days are getting much cooler.  I sure hope that furnace cleaner guy shows up tomorrow so that I can turn the heat on.  I'd rather not have to turn it on, but to be honest, it's that time!

Have you been to Su's blog yet?  Yesterday, she posted a super Halloween kit.  Of course, I had to play with it, and I've come up with a QP freebie for you.  Do stop by Su's blog and download the whole kit.  It's just perfect for scrapping your Halloween photos.  Here's a preview of my QP and the download link.

You can download QP - 072 here:

Now I'm off to enjoy some scrambled eggs and green peppers with Tootsie.  I'll be back tomorrow with another freebie for you.  Till then, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Great Minds Think Alike!

October 22, 2011

Good morning on this cool but sunny Fall morning.  Shortly, I will have to get dressed and see if Eddie wants to go shopping around for a window.  Oh goody!  I have new Photoshop books to read, photo class assignments to work on, videos to watch to learn more about my camera, photos to sort through for my new book, etc, etc, etc.  And I have to go looking for a window!!

So this morning, I played a bit designing for the November collab kit, read some email, and played a couple of games of solitaire.  That was to make up for the fact that I can't sit here and do what I really want to do today.  Did it help?  Not really, but I will talk myself into believing that it did.

Ever notice how great minds think alike?  Yesterday, while the Queen Jester was posting a photo of a monarch butterfly that she shot while on vacation, (click on her name to see her photo) I was in the Mrs' backyard shooting photos of a monarch butterfly.  Here's my butterfly, along with a neat closeup.

There were two or three or these beauties flying around the butterfly bushes.  There were also lots of bees looking for nectar too.  I tried to get a nice photo of the butterfly with two of the bees, but they weren't clear enough to show here.  Here you can see that in the insect world, they don't mind sharing a good thing.

I've been shopping around for quite a while for a nice point and shoot camera to carry in my purse.  I have missed a lot of photo opportunities because I did not have my camera with me.  Sadly, my DSLR won't fit in my purse or I would carry it there all the time.

Today's special buy on the shopping channel (yes, I confess I watch a bit of this channel every day)  is an Olympic point and shoot that looks really nice, and the price is good too!  But, I need to be absolutely positive before I will buy anything.  Yup, that's me - she who snoozes loses!  And I snooze a lot before I commit to buying.

Now I think I'd best get dressed and get started on this day.  Hopefully we will find what we want, and I will be able to get back to playing on my laptop soon.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Tis A Lovely Autumn Morning.

October 21, 2011

Good morning.  I'm sitting here at work, so this will be a short post.  The Mrs will be waking soon and wanting her breakfast.  Daybreak was around 6:40 this morning.  I like it much better when I leave for work in daylight and return home in daylight.

Yesterday, the burner man never showed up to clean out the furnace.  So now, they have rescheduled it for next Monday morning.  Let's hope they show up then, otherwise I will be looking for a new service company.  The window we need to replace is not in stock at the supply store, so we will look elsewhere tomorrow.  Otherwise, it can be ordered.  I have two other windows that need to be replaced so maybe I will order those at the same time.  Actually, there are several that need replacing but I can only do a few at a time.

Also yesterday, Eddie was able to get the new door to the attic installed.  Hopefully, this will help to keep most of the heat in the regular part of the house this winter.  Monday, as long as it is not raining, Eddie will see about installing my new door.  That will be nice as it will give me more light in my living room.

I have another bit of Rose photo art to share this morning, and then I need to get busy here.  The Mrs has just called.

Now I'm off to cook up some breakfast.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Different Perspectives On Time

October 20, 2011

Eye opener!!  Have you checked the calendar lately?  It's almost time to be stocking up on cranberry sauce and all the trimmings for your Thanksgiving Day dinner.  Just a little while ago, I was struggling with the loss of the warmth of summer, and now it's almost time to buy the turkey and get the holiday gifts wrapped and packed into boxes for shipping.

I  remember when I was a child waiting eagerly for these wonderful holidays to finally get here.  It seemed they were so far off and took forever to get here.  Now as a senior citizen, I can't get over how quickly they arrive, and every year they get even quicker!  It must be the difference in our perspective of things at different ages in our life.

I have been sitting here watching a little squirrel trying to get at the food in the little bird feeder that is hanging just outside my window.  He climbs to a spot over it, then has to tip it to get at the food.  He just doesn't understand that when he tips it, all the food spills out.  Or maybe that was his intention to begin with!

Have any of you had experiences, good or bad, in dealing with sales reps either on the phone or with the computer?  Are you finding this way of using technology to deal with the customer much better or more frustrating?  Nani at "The Chronicles of Nani" is asking for some assistance with a survey project on this very subject that she is doing for school.  If you can help out, visit her blog and read exactly what it is she is asking for.  Thanks so much for your help.

Today I have a photo of one of Captain John's boats docked by the Harbor Master's building in Plymouth Harbor.  This was taken just before a passel of dark clouds floated by to chase away the sun.

This next photo was sent to me by email.  I don't know who the photographer was, but I just love the photo.  This should put a smile on your face.  Squirrels can be quite pesky, but you have to agree that they sure are cute!

That's it for today folks.  Eddie will be here in a while to start putting up at least one of the new doors.  Then we have to go buy a window that needs replacing.  Also, the furnace man will be here this morning to clean out the burner.  After that, I will need to call and arrange for an oil delivery.  The cold weather is definitely on it's way.

Now I will get Tootsie her meds and rustle up some breakfast for us.  How does sausage patties sound?  Mmm, mmm, mmm.  Till tomorrorw, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Rain Rain, Go Away. Please!

October 19, 2011

Good afternoon.  I'm late, and this will be have to be a short post because today is a busy day.  Early this morning, Eddie, Dee and I went shopping for new doors.  We ended up buying two of them along with some appropriate hardware.  Of course, you know it was pouring rain.  Thank goodness I brought along a large tarp to cover the doors for the ride home.

My new front door is really quite neat.  It has a window with built in folding blinds so I won't have to put a privacy curtain on it.  What a neat idea!  I never knew there were doors like this.

I finally got my new Photoshop installed last night.  Thank you Wayne!!  Later, I'll try it out.  I still have more errands to do today.  And yes, it's still pouring rain outside.  Yuk!  Yuk!  I have a great shot of the moon from Monday morning on my way home from work.  Once the dark clouds moved aside, it  revealed both a gorgeous sun and a beautiful moon.

That's it for today folks.  Now I have to grab my umbrella and head on out.  Till tomorrow, stay dry and have a marvelous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Wow! The Weather Is Really Crazy!

October 18, 2011

Tootsie and I got up very early this morning, so it's still quite dark outside my window.  I only got a short nap yesterday afternoon, so once my head hit the pillow last night it was dreamland for me.  Right now, I'm watching the weather channel on TV to see what to expect today.  I have to go out and buy a couple of doors so I'm hoping for a bit of sunshine.  There's also a window that needs to be replaced.  It's never dull when you have a house.

For Kyra, I tried to zoom in on the raindrops on the recycle barrel so that you could see what was showing inside them, but the closer I zoomed in, the grainier the photo got.  So yesterday morning I took a new close up photo of raindrops on the barrel.  The light is different so the reflection is different.  However, the flash on my camera shows up quite good!  (the round white spots)

Shortly after daybreak yesterday morning, there was a blackbird high up on a tree limb in the field across the street.  When the birds perch there, it always makes such a pretty silhouette, so I grabbed my camera and headed outside..  As you can see, the sky is quite gray yet.

Later, I had to try my hand at more photo art.  Tootsie and I went out into the yard to take new photos of whatever was blooming.  This coral rose with it's two buds was just begging to have it's photo taken.

I layered it with "Tangled Tendrils" texture from Bonnie at Pixel Dust Photo Art.  Then I applied the "Difference" blending mode (Photoshop), lowered the opacity of the mode a bit, then applied another light texture.  Before I start all the layering and blending, I extract the rose and buds and put them on their own layer with a bit of shadowing.  Before I add in the last texture, I merge all my layers.  I think it's quite interesting.

We are having some really crazy weather this year.  They are showing a wicked dust storm in Texas while Colorado is being covered with lots of snow.  Even part of China is covered in snow.  We have rain in the mid-central states and Florida, with some very cool temperatures on the way to us.  That's the part I'm not looking forward to.  I do NOT like the cold!

This will be a busy week for me between getting some work done on the house and having the furnace cleaned out.  In between, I want to catch up on my photo class lessons.  I don't like getting behind on them because then it starts to feel more like work than fun.

That's it for this morning.  I need to get a couple of things done here before I start on my errands.  If you like new resources, stop by Su's blog and check out the new links that she has posted.  There's some really nice stuff there.  She has a knack for finding these fabulous links.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

The Bulbs Are Planted, Now I Just Need Spring!

October 17, 2011

Gosh, have you noticed that October is already more than half over?  It can't be just my age that makes it seem as if time is flying because I hear lots of younger folks saying the same thing.  Now if Winter can fly by just as fast, that would really be nice.  I'm already looking forward to next Spring.

Yesterday, Joe and I went outside and got the Iris bulbs planted.  This time I watched to make sure he did not bury them too deep.  Most of the bulbs that were planted earlier this year are just coming up now because he and one other dwarf misread the instructions and buried them too deep into the dirt.  I scanned the pictures on the bulb packaging so you can see what we planted.  The pink is "Cherub's Smile". the orange is "Firebreather" and the blue is "Full Tide."

I'll pick up a few tulips and daffodils to round out the Spring bulbs.  Everything else can wait till next Spring when we can see how it all looks.

This morning I'm posting the last two parts of our October collab kit "Fall Festival."

Here are your download links:
EXPIRED

When you finish downloading, hop on over to Su's blog and pick up her parts.  This is a really fun kit and I hope you're enjoying it.

It's feeling rather brisk and Fall-like outside this morning.  The good news is that the sun is shining.  For a while, I was worried because of all the dark clouds, but they soon went on by and let the sun come out.

Now it's time to get Tootsie her morning meds.  She's pretending to be asleep in hopes that I will forget.  But I'm wise to her game!!  Then in a little while, I think I'll make us some brunch with bacon, lettuce and tomatoes.  Mmm, mmm.  Or maybe we'll have scrambled eggs with sausage patties.  Oh, yummy!  Such a big decision for so early in the day!

I did some shopping on my way home from work this morning, so I think maybe a nap is in order for shortly after brunch.  Sounds good to me.  That's it for this morning.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Finally, The Sun Is Shining!

October 16, 2011

The sun is shining this morning, but it's quite breezy outside.  Yesterday wasn't such a good planting day, so we will go out in a little while and get the bulbs in the ground while the sun is still shining.  I didn't get my new Photoshop installed yesterday either.  After reading the instructions for uninstalling and de-activating, I decided it would be best to call Wayne and have him do it for me.  He will come by Tuesday.  While he is here, he will show me once more how to move my programs from DVR to DVD.

I worked on the November collab kit for a while, did a couple of jigsaw puzzles on my laptop and then had a nice long nap.  After supper, Tootsie and I crawled back into bed to watch some TV and I promptly fell asleep.  I think it's my cold that makes me tired, or maybe the cold medicine.  I'm not complaining though because the sleep felt good.

I'm watching "Top Chef Just Desserts" on TV, and it's really quite comical.  The contestants have to bake pies - with only one hand.  The other hand has to stay behind them.  It's really quite interesting to see how ingenius some people are.  Ever try opening a bottle of water or juice with only one hand?  Or maybe try cutting fruit for the filling?   Definitely a fun challenge!

On my way to work last Tuesday night, the sky was filled with dark clouds and weird patterns.  When I stopped at Duncan Donuts to get my coffee, I pulled over to take a photograph.  Isn't this interesting?

Friday at work, it was raining.  This makes for some very pretty photos.  I know I've photographed this particular hibiscus plant quite often, but it is so pretty with raindrops all over it.  A lot of the drops of water have rolled down into the center of the flower making a little pool.

Another interesting item was the handle on the recycle container.   The barrel part is dark blue and the cover is yellow.   The drops of rainwater on the underside of the handle relected both colors.  Every other drop was dark blue with bits of yellow, and the next drop would be yellow and white.

That's about it for today.  Now I'm off to get dressed and outside to plant some iris bulbs.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.
