Time Is Marching By So Fast

August 31, 2009

Gosh! See what day it is? The last day of August!! Either I'm going even slower than I thought, or the days are just flying by me too fast. Where did August go? There are only three weeks left of summer. I think perhaps I had better start checking to see if all my Holiday stuff is pretty close to done, or that will fly right by too.

Have you noticed the new slideshow at the top of my blog? This is a sneak preview of the brand new Daily Download kit for September at Magickal Scraps. http://www.magickalscraps.com/. This is a huge and beautiful kit. The matching part will be available in the shop for such a teeny tiny price you won't want to miss it.
Miss Tootsie and I are off shortly for her chemo appointment. Even with all her problems, she is still such a joyful little darling. It's fun to come home to her greeting. She prances and dances and does doggie talk, and of course has lots of kisses. My little ray of sunshine.

I think we will leave a few minutes early this morning. On my way home from work, I happened to look down at my fuel gage, and oh my goodness!! The needle is sitting on "Empty." Well, we won't get too far without stopping for a fill-up.

I will leave you with a couple of photos I took yesterday of a beautiful rose that was getting ready to open, and in fact, did. Y'all have a great day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Winks, Winks, I Need Some Winks!

August 30, 2009

Tis a gray, wet morning, and quite cool. It's actually a bit refreshing, although a few degrees warmer would be just perfect. I did not get many winks last night, so I'm a bit tired this morning. When my little lady goes to sleep for the night, I can lay down and catch a few winks but some times the winks just don't come.

Therefore, I won't gnaw on your ear for very long this morning. Miss Tootsie and I are going to have a lovely nap for ourselves shortly. Can't you just hear her thinking? "Yeesh, Ma! Just because you're tired, why do I have to go to bed too?" Then of course, the appropriate answer. "Because I said so! And I'm the mother!"

Do you remember those words way back when? "While you're living under my roof, young lady, you'll do as I say!" "Oh you think so, huh? Well you thought wrong!" We couldn't grow up fast enough and be out on our own. Gosh, If we only knew!

Before I leave you to take up company with my cozy little bed, I will share a couple of photos with you. I took these yesterday while at work. Enjoy, and y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

The End Of A Dynasty

August 29, 2009

Ahhhhh, the rain is finally here (since last night), and the air is cooler and it feels so good!! Well, yesterday, I watched a bit of the news about Senator Kennedy. It's rather sad to see the end of a dynasty, sort of. The Kennedy's are our "Royal family," and have been in my life forever.

Many years ago, the hospital where my Laura Jean was living gave me a hard time, wanting me to move her to a nursing home. A kindly nurse told me to write my legislators for help. I wrote to the matriarch herself, Rose Kennedy, and told her my story. She stepped in, and my Laura Jean got to stay put for quite a long while.

Last night was chat night at the forum. Of course, all the ladies were in "fun" mode. It's good to get together and laugh once in a while. Snowy had given us a two page project to do, using a summer theme. Well, I mostly played with photography this summer, so that was what my layouts were about.

At work yesterday, I had a few photo opportunities. I got to photo some butterflies that were dancing around in the backyard, a dragonfly resting on a leaf, a rose bud that was a full blown rose by mid afternoon, and several bees that were very busy collecting pollen. Tomorrow, I will have photos to share.

Well, I've finished my coffee, so now it's time to get busy here. There's always work to be done. And then, of course, later this afternoon, it's back to work again. Meanwhile, Y'all have a wonderful day.
Hugs, Edna B.

New Flower QP's

August 28, 2009

Good Morning, and another gorgeous morning it is!! If it stays like this all day, it will be a spectacular day. Last night I was able to get started on another new kit "September Song." So maybe I'll show you a peek once I get enough of it done to make a little preview.

We also have another brand new Daily Download kit coming your way soon from the designers at Magickal Scraps. It's absolutely lovely, and it's huge. Don't forget to stop by the shop and pick up the the rest of the August kit, "Men At Work." It's huge, and it's only $1.50. This will help us to keep our forum up and running.

I realize from comments, how important Quick Pages are, and I am so glad because I really like to make them. While I was cropping a photo to share with you today, it dawned on me that flower photos are ready made backgrounds for QP's. So that will be my next set of QP freebies.

WOW! I don't know what just happened, but I touched a key and the rest of my blog disappeared!! This thing is just too darn touchy for me.

Last night I tried to update a few music selections on my blog music player, and Playlist wiped out all my music. They were doing some maintenance on their site and I guess they thought it would be fun to toss out all my music so I could start over. The nerve!!

Well, anyway, I managed to find a selection of oldies along with a few country tunes that I like. If you have any favorites you would like to hear, let me know and we will see what we can do. No rap or heavy metal stuff please.

Time for me to get back to work now. I hope you can use this new QP. Y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Rough Times Ahead For Tootsie

August 27, 2009

Today, I will take it a bit easy. I have a 20 hour shift coming up for tonight and tomorrow. Maybe just do some laundry, and put a few books in their place. A couple days ago, Kyra posted a beautiful kit called "Romantique" as a freebie on her blog. It was just lovely, and I couldn't help myself, I had to do a layout with it.

******
I also made a matching QP, which Kyra has been so kind to let me give it to you today as a freebie. I hope you like it as much as I do.
******
Yesterday daughter in law and I moved everything in the living room around. I am really bad when it comes to making decisions about this kind of thing. First, I thought I already knew where the sofa should go. Then maybe not. Maybe over there would be better. Oh dear, it's a good thing I have help with this.
******
We finally decided on a spot, and then we try to find a place to put everything else that will be convenient and look good. Turns out, I had to get rid of a couple of things, but so be it. Gosh, I will be so glad when all of this is done.
******
Miss Tootsie's doctor called, and they want to do another MRI and Spinal Tap on her to check on the progression of the disease, and see if any other problems have arised (like tumors, etc.). I am procrastinating a bit on this. It's just not fair to dump all of this at one time on such a little dog. She has chemo Monday and Tuesday coming up too. Maybe we will wait another week for the tests.
******
One last thing, I sent my car back to the shop yesterday to have to new part put on, and was informed that there was also a hole in the muffler. Murphy's law is at work here, I just know it!! By the afternoon, I had a new muffler and a new safety sticker on my car. May the automobile gods shine on me for another year and keep my car running good.
******
It's time for me to get busy now. I will post your freebie, and start some lunch for Miss Tootsie and myself. Y'all have a wonderful day.

Quilts Of Valor

August 26, 2009

Well, Good Morning! Right now, it's lovely outside with a little bit of a breeze, but you can already feel that it's going to be a bruiser!! My car was returned to me yesterday morning looking like a brand new kid. My son in law did a wonderful job. This morning I dropped it off at the regular mechanic's to have the new part put on, and then hopefully, he will go get my sticker for me. Yup, starting off to be a great day.

Today I want to tell you about my friend Carol, who lives in North Carolina and has a most wonderful hobby. She belongs to a group called "Quilts of Valor Foundation." This is a group of army wives (and a few other wonderful ladies) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, specifically the 82nd Airborne. They make really beautiful quilts that are sent to our wounded warriors at Fort Bragg, Walter Reed and Brooke Army Medical Center.

I asked her to send me a few photos of her quilts, which I will share with you today. I met this wonderful lady some years ago when we both joined the same classes at Massasoit Community College. It was a brand new program on how to design Web Sites. The classes ran for almost a year, and we both graduated. Soon after that, she moved to North Carolina to be closer to one of her children. Thank goodness for email!!

Today I let Tootsie walk around outdoors for a bit for the first time since she lost her sight. Except for bumping her little nose on the step, she did terrific!! We will have to do this more often now. She has been gaining back some of the weight that she lost, so maybe a bit of walking around in the yard will help. The problem is mostly mine, you understand. I am the one who is afraid she will get hurt. Mothers!!

Time for me to get busy here. Today we will re-arrange the living room. Oh boy, oh boy! Enjoy the pictures, and Y'all have a really grand day.

Hugs, Edna B.

No Magic In My Nose

August 25, 2009

I'm sitting on pins and needles here waiting for my son in law to bring my car by. He finished up the work on it late last night, and my daughter says it looks just great!! Can't wait to see it. After that, I can send it back to the mechanic to have the underside fixed. A bar had rusted and broke off, and a new part had to be ordered. Seems it has to do with keeping the back wheels working properly. Oh my!! Hopefully, the new safety sticker will follow, and I will be all set for another year.

My friend Kyra and her husband Jan have just celebrated their second wedding anniversary. Actually, they have been together for more than 20 years. Kyra and Jan, I hope you are blessed with many more happy and funtastic years together.

I have been very neglectful of finishing up the work on my bedroom. So today, I really must get back to it. I tried the bit with wiggling my nose, but the stuff just sits there and doesn't move. Seems my nose doesn't really have any magic powers. That's really sad. I was sort of hoping.

Tomorrow, my daughter in law and I will start to re-arrange my living room to make room for the new sofa that will be coming soon. Groan, groan, groan, yeesh! The work never stops for the weary. Ah, but it will be so nice to have a sofa to recline on when I watch TV in the evening.

Next, I must start thinking up words for the next two letter challenges - "U" and "V." Even the dictionary doesn't seem to be helping me much here. I got stuck on the letter "T" until I found an old photo of me catching a sun tan. I will share that with you today, plus I will post the last QP in the "Fantasy QP's" Set 02.

Now I think I should get dressed and ready for the day. Enjoy the QP, and Y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Gosh, I Forgot!!

August 24, 2009

For those of you who missed Kyra's newest layout in the forum, I meant to post it here so that you might enjoy it too. This looks to be a very interesting little cafe. Note the little witch plastered to the tree - that's me after one of my early flying lessons!! hehehe. Enjoy,

I Have A Winner Here!

August 24, 2009

Another busy morning. After my morning coffee, it will be time to get dressed and take my car back to son in law so that he can finish fixing the rust. This week is crunch time for getting my new safety sticker. Once that little piece of sticky paper is slapped on my windshield, I will breathe a bit easier. My car will be safe to drive for another year. At least according to the government.

I haven't decided yet what sort of stuff I want to do today. My choices are a bit limited. It's either a) work a bit in the apartment, b) work a bit in the apartment, c) play on the computer, or d) work a bit in the apartment. See what I mean? All fun stuff.

Maybe today I will remember to gather up all the stuff that I am supposed to be taking with me to daughter's house. Up to now, I haven't remembered once, but maybe today will be different. I will go out shortly and remind Moo to remind me to take the stuff with me.

I have been watching my little Tootsie quite a bit lately, and I have decided that animals are much braver than us humans. If she senses that I have left her alone for a bit, she walks all the way out through the house to Moo's room. Considering that she can't see anything, I call that quite brave. Would you or I be able to do that without clinging to walls and stuff? Most likely not. My little girl is a definite winner!!

Time to make the donuts! I really must get on with today's schedule, or I will mess up everybody's daily plans. First, I will post your freebie. Today you get "Fantasy QP - 07." And tomorrow, you will get the last one in this set. I hope you enjoy these. Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

More Fun In The Forum

August 23, 2009

Gosh, almighty!! This month is flying right by me and I'm not quite sure where it has all gone to. It's amazing, but when the weather is very hot and sticky, you seem to lose a lot of days because you can't get out and enjoy them. Of course, it might be just Ms. Crotchety here. All the younger folks seem to be having a grand summer.

I spoke with daughter Dee last night, and she told me that the beach party went over quite well. The children had a fantastic time, and then later the adults got to sit and watch the Red Sox play.

Dee was telling me about all the work and the hours that went into putting the party together. It really was exhausting, but then towards the end of the afternoon one little girl came up to her and said "this was the best day I ever had." Gosh, now that puts a lump in your throat, doesn't it? Makes it all worthwhile.

This morning I peeked in at the Magickal Scraps forum, and found a delightful layout that Kyra had posted. It showed a picture she took of a little cafe called Cafe De Hippe Heks. The flag out front pictured a witch and her cat flying on a broom. It's really adorable, go check it out. Look in the forum under the August chat challenge. http://www.magickalscraps.com/.

I will leave you now to see what sort of mischief I can cook up today. Plus my adorable little girl is sitting here patiently waiting for me to hold her. Here's a new photo for you of one of the little birds hanging around the feeder. Enjoy, and Y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Having Fun With Friends

August 22, 2009

Well Good Morning. Gosh, I almost hate to get up, my bed is so comfy now. Ahhh, but life goes on and there is still lots of work to do. My daughter Dee is having a beach party today in her driveway. Let's all hope the raindrops stay away till after the party.

First they fill the whole driveway up with beach sand, then comes all the party trimmings. A bar stocked with lots of good things to drink and eat, grass skirts, beach chairs, umbrellas, beach toys and games, the whole nine yards. I don't think I want to volunteer for clean up duty afterwards.

Let's get back to yesterday morning's little black visitor. Turns out, it was a freshwater crayfish. I always thought they only lived in salt water. Surprise, surprise. The poor little thing must have taken a wrong turn, because he came at least a half mile, maybe more, out of his way to the wrong place.

*****
He's a lucky little bugger I don't eat much seafood. If I did though, you would need a whole pan of these to make a meal. The only seafood I like is FRESH haddock, scallops, and tuna salad.

How about an update of Miss Tootsie? She's managing quite well, but there are some obvious changes. She doesn't play with her ball anymore. It's not so easy to chase after something you can't see. See seems to be losing her sense of smell too. So this makes things a lot more difficult for her. However, she does a pretty good job of getting around the house. She moves slowly and cautiously. I only have to look at her to realize that my aches and pains don't mean much.

I will be posting your QP freebies on Monday and Tuesday coming up. That will be the end of those two sets of Fantasy QP's. I really enjoy making them, so maybe there will be some more later.

Last night I posted a layout in the forum, asking Snow Raven about the upcoming chat project. Then I sat back and waited for the fall-out. It didn't take long. Kyra spotted it first and ran fast as she could to Snow Raven and tattled on me. We did have a grand laugh though. Gosh, I love these girls. We have so much fun together, and we all live in different countries!!

I'm off now to check out what's happening with all the dwarfs. Y'all have a really grand day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Strange New Creature

August 21, 2009

Oooooooooo, ahhhhhhhhh, slept so much better last night on my new mattress and link spring. Moo put the new link spring on the bed for me with some help from one of the dwarfs. Oh yes, he did sputter quite a few of those funny words, but in the end, my bed is like new.

********* I am at work now, and guess what? I forgot my little mouse so now I am trying to work this foolish little webbook with the touch pad. Not so easy for me to do. A ten minute chore takes me about 40 minutes working this way. Ah well, just another little hill.

It is stifling hot here so I hope I can last out the day. Plus my car had a new bump bump noise under it all the way to work this morning. I guess it's just not a good day if things don't go wrong. Maybe if I can leave early, I can take the car back to the mechanic to see what is wrong.

When I got here this morning, there was a little black creature in the driveway. I took some photos, and now have to look it up on Google to find out what it is and how it got here. It looks like a tiny black lobster. Gosh, I never saw one of these before. See, we learn something new everyday. I will attempt to post a photo of it here. Then I will leave you with a new freebie, "Fantasy QP - 06."
Sorry - it's not working out so good - will post the photo tomorrow. Y'all have a great day.

August 20, 2009

Just thought I would let you know that as soon as I clicked the word "Post" on blog this morning, the truck pulled up with my new sleeper chair. Talk about first on the delivery list!! And lordy, it's a beauty!!

Now I have more work cut out for me but I will take my time with it - no rush. Now didn't that sound good! No rush!! The only "must do's" on my list for today are getting the link spring and mattress for my bed, and doing some laundry. I can dig it!!

Go back to having a great day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Busy Day, Busy Day

August 20, 2009

I love the summertime, but here it is almost the end of August, and I haven't been able to enjoy very much of it. Outdoors, that is. I think back to when I was younger and the heat didn't bother me, and it makes me wonder how kids do it. Children and animals, they just roll with the punches and do the best they can. And God blesses them.

Why am I up so early this morning? The new sleeper chair will be here shortly. My whole apartment is topsy turvy, and know what? I don't care!!! I did my best. However, I did make a nice clear path for the men to bring the sleeper chair through from the door into the bedroom. Considering how tiny space is here, that was a feat and a half for me. I just have to put everything back after they leave.

Daughter in law is coming by later, and hopefully take me to pick up a new link spring and mattress for my daybed. After that, I will just have to do over the TV wall unit, and get a new TV, and that's it for the bedroom. Finite!! Done!!

Delivery men just gave me a courtesy call - they will be here within the hour. I knew it!! That's why I set my clock and got up extra early to move any last pieces of anything out of the way. Of course, poor little Miss Tootsie is not liking all of this moving stuff around and putting her in the other room. Poor little darling, I don't blame for one bit. She has been so good through all of this.

I better get off this computer and make ready for when the furniture truck pulls in the yard. Today, I will give you "Fantasy QP - 05" as your freebie. Enjoy it, and QP - 06 will be here tomorrow. Y'all have a terrific day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Snail Power Is Good

August 19, 2009

This morning I dropped my car off at the auto mechanic's garage. Have lots of things to check on do for it. Brakes, air conditioning, oil change, etc. With some luck, I will have my new safety sticker by next week.

As for the work here in the house, it goes slowly. This heat and humidity has been brutal. It just saps all your strength and energy right out of you. Well, out of me, anyway. I plug along slowly like a snail. I thought I had a timeline when I had to be finished, but I guess I have as long as I like. Wow, just saying that makes me feel better.

I take a lot of rest breaks. So when I am on "break" I work on my PC. Last night I managed to finish up my second set of Fantasy QP's. I will post them as freebies for you tomorrow and Friday, and Monday and Tuesday. Don't forget, each one is only free for one day, then I remove the link.

Miss Tootsie is learning her way around the apartment really well. As long as I don't go moving too many things. This is a bad time, because that is exactly what I am doing - moving, changing and getting rid of things. When I walk out through the main part of house, I talk to her all the way, and that way she can follow my voice. We haven't tried out in the yard yet, it's too darn hot for her. Her little feet would burn.

Yesterday I found out why my mattress isn't so comfortable anymore. A spring broke and came right through the mattress. Oh boy!!! Well, I was going to go looking at a new bed for me, but now I really do have to. That's okay, though. That's the fun part of changing things.

The clean-up is the hard part. We had squished so many years of stuff from both our houses into this little teeny apartment, so you can imagine what it is like trying to go through everything. I would just dump it all into a trash bag, but the very next day I would be needing something important that I had tossed out. So I have to check everything.

Also, all trash has to be sorted. Paper, glass, plastic, metal, etc. We have been recycling for quite a while, but now it is mandatory in our town. About time, I say!! All cities and towns should make it mandatory.

Okay, that's it. Back to work for Bonzo here. Today I will share a photo of some very sunny daisies. If you do not have sunshine where you are, maybe this will brighten your day a bit. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

My New Book Is Here

August 18, 2009

Miss Tootsie and I had a rather restless night, so not so much sleep. It has been so hot and muggy - well, maybe tonight will be better. Today we have lots to do. First we start by dropping the car off with the son in law. Then back home to do some more work.

Where is that cup of coffee I started to make? I certainly need it right about now. Be right back.
Ahhhhh! That first sip - mmmmmm! This will help to get me jump started I hope.

I have been waiting patiently for a package in the mail, and yesterday it arrived. Wow, I could not wait to tear open that package. Know what it was? Yup! My blogbook. Gosh, it looks so professional. I spent an hour an a half last night reading through it, and seeing all the different layouts, kits, and life events that took place in 2008. If you have a blog, this is a terrific thing to do - print it out and save it for your family. A nice little piece of history.

Speaking of history, before I start any work this morning, I want to hop over to Kyra's blog to catch up on the latest chapter in her family history story. Wow, it is soooooo intersting.

I also got another little package in the mail, a new puzzle game disk to try installing in my PC. I have been lost without my jigsaw puzzles. this monster machine would not let me put my old program in, so I have ordered a new one to try. The jigsaw puzzles are my relaxation, so I hope this one works ok with the PC.

Well, another of my chattering, it's time to get busy here. I will post the final QP in the first set of Fantasy QP's. In a few days, I will let you know when, I will start posting from the second set. I hope you like it, and Y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Yeah!!! My Tuna Came Out Just Fine!!

August 17, 2009

Gosh, yesterday was a wasteful day for me. I didn't do much of anything but rest and sleep. When your body gets tired, it just doesn't care what your schedule is, it stops working. But I'm not complaining, in fact it felt good to be lazy for a day.

Today, looks to be another beautiful day outside. I will leave in a while to get a couple of errands done, and then this afternoon a friend is coming by to help me a bit here. I will be so glad when everything is finished in my apartment. When I think back to when I was 40 and 50, I would have been done in a few days. Must have eaten more Wheaties back then.

Have any of you been stopping by Kyra's blog to read her Family History story? If not, you just don't know what a treat you are missing. Not only is the story fascinating, but she has made some beautiful scrap layouts to go with the story. This lovely lady has Russian royalty in her genes. http://smiekeltje.blogspot.com/.

Well, I am up to my old tricks again. Yesterday I put half a dozen eggs on to boil so that I could make some egg salad. Then I sat down to check some e-mail. That did it!!! Ever seen what eggs look like when they burn? Not a very pretty sight!! Well, that made me decide on a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch instead.

Later, I decided to try to make tuna salad. You can't burn that! This time I stayed right with it till it was all made, and in a bowl in the refrigerator to get cold. See? There are some things I can do in the kitchen that come out right. Cooking just never was my forte. I can do lovely things with crafty stuff, but my brother is a much better cook.

Speaking of Moo, he had a most wonderful time last night at the Music Circus, and was bubbling over when he got home. It was fantastic to watch these original Doo Wop groups perform the songs that we grew up listening to. The performers are our age and older, so this had to be quite a thrill.

For today's freebie, I will give you "Fantasy QP - 03." For me, these are such fun to make, so I hope you are enjoying them. I have four QP's in Set 01, and am working on Set 02. Tomorrow, I will post the last QP from this first set.

My little girl is laying here in front of the fan, waiting for a bit of special attention, and quite possibly an extra treat. No doubt I will definitely give in and give her a chicken jerky treat. Then we will have our meds, and she can visit with Moo while I get my errands done. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Big Night Coming Up For Moo

August 16, 2009

Tis another beautiful morning. I'm sure it will be sticky and hot hot later, but this is a good time to get out in the yard and enjoy the great breathing air. Today, hopefully, will be another productive day for me. Yesterday I had a grand time moving clothes into drawers. Today, I hope to get rid of a lot of the books that I had bagged up, and a few more things that haven't been used in years.

With a little luck, the rust on my car will be fixed, my bedroom will be mostly finished, and my new bed chair will be here and in place. That will leave next week for my auto sticker. With all that behind me, I will feel a lot better. Oh happy days!!!

Tonight, Moo and his best friend will go to the Music Circus and see a live Doo Wop show with all original performers. This should be an extremely enjoyable evening for them, especially Moo. Have fun guys!!

This morning when I got home, my favorite little girl was waiting at the door for me. What a beautiful way to start my day. God was ever so good to me the day he sent this little dog my way. The joy she has brought me is priceless.

I will be taking down the link to "Fantasy QP - 02" shortly. So I do hope that you were able to get it. Monday, I will post the third QP from this set of 4 QP's. September 1st, they will be available in my store at Magickal Scraps.

Today, I have a couple of butterfly photos to share with you. I shot these last night around 7:30. Now I'm off to see what sort of mischief I can brew up for today. Y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy Birthday Kaline

August 15, 2009

It's 8 am, and it's absolutely gorgeous outside this morning. I'm not sure if it will be a bruiser in another couple of hours, but right now it is just fantastic out there. I guess the trick to summer weather is to go to bed earlier, get up earlier, and enjoy the time from 6 am to about 10 am.

Folks, you gotta love this little girl. My Tootsie is walking around with a chewy bone in her mouth trying to find a good place to hide it. Ahhhhhhhh, she just found a good spot. Bless her little heart.

There's another great little girl out there somewhere in mid-America. She is Nani's furry little girl. Her name is Kaline, and today she is 4 years old. So HAPPY BIRTHDAY KALINE. Tootsie sends hugs and licks your way. Head on over to Nani's blog and read all about it. http://chroniclesofnani.blogspot.com/.

Tootsie and I are just waiting for the delivery men to show up. I think as soon as I finish my cup of coffee, I need to start a load of laundry. It's always nice to have clean clothes to wear to work. Yup, off to work tonight, but then I will have 5 days and nights off in a row. Yeahhhh!!!

I really must get busy here, so I will leave you with "Fantasy QP - 02." The next one will be here on Monday 8/17. Just remember, they are only freebies for one day. I sure hope you like these. Enjoy, and Y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

p.s. Ever wonder why I say "Y'all"? I am from the Northeast and that is a Southern word. Well, two of my children, and their families, do live in the southern part of this great country, and that little "Y'all" is just a tug from the heart to let them know I love them.

New Fantasy QP's Coming

August 14, 2009

Well, today looks to be another nice day, although I'm not sure about how hot it is outside, as I am still at work. But the sun has been shining all morning, and the birds and the squirrels have been busy here in the back yard.

Update on Miss Tootsie: Nothing new is happening, she is still blind and a bit disoriented. But as long as we talk to her while she is trying to follow us, she manages pretty well. On her own, she tries to follow along the wall and any other objects on either side of her chosen path. We just have to remember to be careful not to move a lot of things. She remembers where things were from before. She's a marvel, and I just love her to pieces. (can you tell?)

Last night I started working on a set of Fantasy QP's. The set will eventually be for sale in my store, but I thought I might offer them to you first, one at a time as a freebie. However, they will only be free for 24 hours. If you miss them and want them, you will have to buy the set from my store.

Today, I will give you the "Fantasy QP-01." Just remember, the link will be removed tomorrow night, 5 pm EST.

I'm hoping that the mailman brings me a package soon. I did order my blog to be printed and made into a hard bound book. Just the year 2008. Now I can't wait to see what it looks like. I'm thinking that I will divide the year 2009 into two volumes because I posted so much more this year than I did last year. Gosh, I love surprises in the mail.

Tonight when I get home I have to really hustle to get a lot finished in my bedroom. Up to now, I diddle and procrastinate, and accomplish little bits here and there. However, my new bureaus are being delivered tomorrow morning between 8am & 12 noon. With my luck, they will arrive right about 8 am. So it's time to do the hustle and bustle. Pronto.

My little lady is thinking about what she wants now for lunch, so I must leave you for now. Here is my "Fantasy QP - 01." I hope you like it. Y'all have a fantastic day now.

Hugs, Edna

Tootsie's Stroller Is A Blessing

August 13, 2009

This morning we go for Tootsie's last chemo treatment for this round. So far, nothing has changed. For about an hour after the treatment, she is very disoriented, but then she calms down a bit and tries to find her way around. If this keeps up though, I will have to look for a little crash helmet for her.

God bless her little heart, she manages to find her way out to her wee papers without any help. She follows a lot by touch and sound. Another amazing thing, unlike us humans, she has not become cranky and snappy. That is a beautiful thing about animals. Whatever life hands them, they just take it in stride and keep on going. Us humans usually have to go through our "five steps of grieving" before we grudgingly try to cope with one of life's mountains.

Needless to say, I have not been doing much in the way of designing and scrapping lately. (See what I mean? Situation pops up, stick head in sand - maybe it will go away.) I have done some furniture shopping, but that's about it. The new chair bed and bureaus for the bedroom will be here soon. I just have to get my head out of the sand and finish getting the room set up.

In a few weeks, the new sofa will be here, and then hopefully I will be done with most of the bigger work here in my apartment. That will really be such a relief. After that, most of what I have left to do is small stuff.

Well, we are off to chemo now, be back in a while.

........We're back now, and are on "close watch" to see what happens next. Tootsie's chemo treatments have been pushed back to every three weeks again. So much for the "light at the end of the tunnel." As for the blindness, that will most likely (not guaranteed) be permanent. I suppose I should have seen it coming. This same disease left my Laura Jean blind also. But I was really hoping that things would be somewhat easier for Tootsie. Science has come such a long way over the years.

Today, like yesterday, is a drizzly type rainy day so far. Thank goodness for Tootsie's stroller. It's a blessing on rainy days, and when she is not feeling well, or not able to get around so good. Same goes for her car seat. At least when we are in the car, I know she cannot fall off the seat.

Well, I think I shall try to get a little bit more work done around here, and then maybe squeeze in a little nap. Tonight I work a long shift, 20 hours. But then I can stay home with Tootsie on Sunday night - we have no sitter for that night. So all works out well.

I have a couple more nature photos to share with you today. One is a shot of some beautiful blue morning glories, and the other is of a tattered, yet lovely butterfly. Enjoy, and Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Miss Tootsie Is Not Doing So Well

August 12, 2009

Well folks, yesterday was a very busy day, but then it ended on a sour note. My little girl has not feeling so well these past few days, and yesterday, seemed to have no sense of balance or sight. It is heartbreaking to watch her try to walk two or three feet without knocking her little head into anything in her path.

I called her doctor, and rushed her to the hospital. The news does not look so good at the moment. She appears to be out of remission, has no sense of balance, and doesn't show signs of sight. Oh, but she tries so hard. We will finish this round of chemo, and then reevaluate. She may have to have another MRI and spinal tap, but that is a few days off yet.

Last night, Uncle Moo came in to play with her. She loves their little snarl and growl game. Even though she couldn't seem to find her chewy that was setting a few inches away from her, she did manage to get out a few growls at Moo to let him know that he could not have her chewy.

In the morning, my daughter in law and I did manage to do a bit of shopping for furniture. I finally made my decision, and bought the sleeper chair for my bedroom. This eliminates the need for an extra bed, and is quite comfy as a chair. I will take some pictures when I get everything here and in place.

We have to go back to the hospital this morning. Tootsie will have more chemo, and be checked again by her neurosurgeon. As a grief counselor, I know all the right things to do, think, feel and say. But as a person, this is not a very good time for my Tootsie and me. In the meanwhile, I'm hoping that Y'all have a great day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Do You Like Soft Ice Cream?

August 11, 2009

So much for that lovely rain yesterday morning. By 8:30 the sun was shining in all its' glory, and by 9:30 the heat was becoming brutal. Not just hot, but sticky, and it stayed this way all day. I would loved to stayed in a cool bedroom all day, but alas, that was not to be. First, the bedroom was hot too. Second, I had already made plans with my granddaughter, and I had been looking forward to this.

It was very enjoyable watching Jasmine pick out her nail color, trying to stay with her own favorites, yet not go against Mom's wishes. She settled on a medium corally pink. Next came the decision as to how long the nails would be. This is where Meema (me) steps in and helps to make that decision. For the first time, they should not be too long, yet not really short either. School is starting soon, and we have to take that into consideration.

When her nails were finished, the technician drew a lovely little design on one nail on each hand to finish them off properly. Jasmine was thrilled with her new nails, and could not wait to get home and show them off to everyone. On the way home, we just had to stop at the Dairy Queen, and fill up on an ice cream blizzard. Mmmmmmmmmmmm, that really hit the spot.

Ever watch how different people eat their soft ice cream cones on a hot day? Let me tell you, this is interesting, and on a hot day, can be very tricky. Almost everyone gets some of the ice cream on their clothing. It's not easy to keep your good manners in mind, while you lick away at the ice cream - trying to keep ahead of the melting. Of course, if the cone were dipped in chocolate or cherry, then it becomes even more tricky. Even though we end up a bit sticky and messy, it is definitely worth it.

Snow Raven, that last paragraph was especially for you. I know you love the soft ice cream. Can't you just picture it? Li-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-ck, ooooooooooooooooh, ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! Li-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-ck, ooooooooooooooh, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Gotcha drooling yet? hehe. Oh, I am feeling so bad!!

Time to behave now. This morning my daughter in law is coming, and we are going to go shopping and attempt to finish up my furniture shopping. I just have to decide on what I want for the bedroom, and then go from there. I haven't had to do this in so long that it really is all new.

The weather man is promising us another scorcher today. Oh yuck! Yuck! Actually, though, if I wait for the cooler weather to do all my running around, my company will already be here. So this is a must. I also need to get new curtains for the dwarfs' kitchen. Even guys like things to look a bit nice.

I want to remind you that if you are wanting any of my new kits, the time to buy them is now. The 30% sale will end at midnight on the 14th. While you are in the Magickal Shop, check out the collab kit, Men At Work. It is another huge kit that goes with the August Daily Downloads, and is only $1.50. You cannot beat this price, and the kit is fantastic. The proceeds from this kit help to maintain our forum site. So please don't be bashful. Buy it, and thank you from all of us at Magickal Scraps. http://www.magickalscraps.com/.

Want another freebie? I just happen to have another layout finished, this one featuring my "Tomboy" kit, and my granddaughter Jasmine. I turned it into a QP to share with you, and I hope you like it. Meanwhile, stay cool; and Y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

It's 5 AM And It's Raining

August 10, 2009

Good morning again. It's only 5 am, but I can't seem to catch any winks so I may as well play on my laptop. The little lady is asleep, and it is very quiet except for the sound of the rain hitting the roof. I am not complaining thought, because today is supposed to be very hot and humid, so maybe this rain will help take away some of the humidity. We shall see.

Today is going to be a very busy day. Miss Tootsie starts this round of chemo treatments this morning, and then at noon my granddaughter Jasmine will go with me to the nail salon, and we will both come home with beautiful nails. Then later this afternoon it's back for more chemo for Miss Tootsie. Two more treatments tomorrow, then that's it for another seven weeks.

Petco was having a sale the other day, and I bought a few new outfits for Tootsie. And guess what!!! All but one actually fit her!! Usually we have to return (or give away) most of the outfits because she is in between sizes. This must mean that she has lost a few more ounces. Wowee, good for her!

I do have a freebie for you today, but it will have to wait until later when we get back from Tootsie's appointment. I did not think to transfer it over to my laptop. Well, I'm going to watch a bit of Law And Order now on the TV. I'll be back in a few hours.

******I'm home now. Well, we went to the hospital for Tootsie's chemo, but no one was there for that department. Hmmmmm, wonder which one of us screwed up? We'll wait for someone from the hospital to call us before we go back.

Meanwhile, I have a photo to share. It was quite foggy this morning on the drive home, so I tried to get a photo. This one's not too bad. Also, I made a layout using today's freebie QP, which features my grandson, Kevin. Hope you like them. Y'all have a fantastic day.

Fantastic Weather And A New Sofa

August 9, 2009

Well, good morning. And a great one it is!! We may get rain later on today, but right now the weather is absolutely divine. Yesterday was a great day too. This is my idea of fantastic summer weather. I could dig it all season.

Yesterday, while my little girl was at the beauty salon getting all spiffed up, I went on a shopping spree for moi, and bought me sleeper sofa. You heard me! I finally found a sleeper sofa that I think will do just nicely in my little living room. Whoopee!! They even gave me a choice of fabrics at no extra charge. I can expect delivery sometime between the end of August and the middle of September.

You'll never guess where I found it. At Jordan's Furniture. So close, yet so far. They are not far from here, and I don't know why I didn't try them first. I tried everybody else all around them. It doesn't matter, I have my sofa and that's what counts. I will go back in a couple of days, and see if I can find what I want for my bedroom there too.

If you're reading this Nani, I hope all goes well for your Grandma. Home care can be such a blessing in helping to keep our loved ones in their own home. How do I know? Because I've been doing this type of health care for years. It makes a big difference in one's life to be able to stay at home where you are comfortable with your surroundings. Even a move to a senior living center apartment can be comfortable because you still have your own furniture and collectibles with you, and you are still pretty much on your own - with the help of home care, of course.

Caring must be in the genes or something like that. You know, four of my five children, at some point in their lives, has worked in a nursing home or hospital and/or did home care. I wonder if it has to do with the fact that my youngest child has lived in either a hospital or nursing facility for all but four months of her life.

Our beautiful Laura Jean contracted meningitis at age 4 1/2 months, and has been bed bound ever since. Well I shouldn't say always bed bound. She has a marvelous wheelchair built especially for her body, and is able to sit in it for a couple of hours a day. Everything is done for her, as she cannot do anything at all. She can only hear and feel, but she is happy in her own little world. She is 43 years old now, and because of the fantastic care that she receives, her skin looks just lovely. No skin breakdown, no bedsores, and her gorgeous long ash blonde hair is kept brushed and lovely. Sounds like they love her too, huh?

Enough of my rattling. This morning I will share a couple more photos that I took Friday. Can you tell I've been enjoying this new 50 mm lens? Enjoy the photos, and Y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Great New Photos To Share

August 8, 2009

Want to hear something weird? My daughter-in-law was telling me about Hummingbird Moths just a few nights ago, but I got busy and did not have a chance to look them up on the internet. At work yesterday, I looked out the window, and saw something buzzing around the butterfly bushes. It might have been a hummingbird, but it had a reddish orange color to it.

It stayed there for the longest time, so I grabbed my camera and went out to get a few pictures. Wow, what a surprise. It turned out to be hummingbird moth. I have never seen one of these before. You have to know that when I take photos, I do the continuous shoot thing. So I end up with hundreds of photos to look through. Yesterday was a "photo opportunity" day, and I ended up with several hundred photos.

I did some errands on my way home from work, and was quite washed out when I got home. I spent some time checking through a lot of the photos, and verifying what this little flying object was, chatted a bit with Snow Raven and Audrey, and then took my tired little patootie to bed. Sorry, no posting for the blog.

But!! I do have some interesting photos to share with you today. This morning, I can't stay on too long, because Miss Tootsie and I have more errands to do. She has an appointment at her beauty salon, and I will try to do a bit of shopping while I am waiting to pick her up. So till tomorrow, enjoy the photos and Y'all have a great day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Got Things To Do Today

August 6, 2009

We are on day 6 already, and it's feeling as though this month is rushing by us too. Gosh, I wonder where it is that they all have to go in such a hurry? I had such big plans for June, and here it is August. Yish!

I have not poked my head outside yet, but my little apartment felt much cooler this morning than it has in a while, so maybe outside will be a bit nicer too. Whether I like it or not, I really must get outdoors today. Miss Tootsie's Greenies are all gone, and we really must get to the store and buy some more. As long as we are out, we may as well stop at the post office to mail some packages too. Unless it is hot, then we will skip the post office. I do not leave my little girl in the car when it is hot outside. No errand is that important.

I guess I will have to do a bit of shopping soon. My ink supply for the printer is getting low. Actually, I've already run out of one of the colors. Plus I am still searching for a sofa and bed chair, or equivalent.

I also have to check on the paint code for my car. My son in law says he will fix it for me in time to get my new sticker. This will be great, and save me from getting a rejection sticker.

It's time to wash the scatter rugs and Miss Tootsie's blankets again. Good thing we have so many of these. We don't have to do this every other day.

So now I'm off to start to get busy. Mind you, I'd rather not have to, but here I do not have a choice. I will leave you with a Sampler to play with from my "Tomboy" kit. Enjoy, and y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Wishing Warm Sunny Weather For You

August 5, 2009

Crooknees, I'm wishing some of this hot sunny weather your way. I hope you get it, and enjoy it. Myself, I could use something a bit cooler. Maybe even with a soft breeze wafting through my window. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I had such hopes of getting out and doing some things that need to be done, but it has been too hot for me. It probably wouldn't be so bad if the muggies weren't here too. Sticky is just not fun.

I finished up the Template Challenge at Magickal Scraps. Snow Raven gave us a travel template to work with. So I borrowed a few of her photos, added a couple of elements, and came up with this.

If you haven't been to Kyra's blog recently, give yourself a treat and go visit her. She has her "S" challenge layout posted and it is just awesome. Her mom used to be a professional ballet dancer, and Kyra's layout features pictures of her mom performing Swan Lake. What marvelous family history this lovely lady has.

I took some photos at work the other day, through the window (what else?) of a little black bird. I will post the original photo, and then the cropped close-up. Considering the distance, and the fact that the outside of the windows is not very clean, the photos aren't too bad. I took these because he was a different little bird in the back yard that day.

I will leave you now and enjoy a visit with my daughter in law. Wednesday afternoons we try to get in a visit, and then we have supper together. This is very enjoyable and relaxing for me. So till tomorrow, Y'all stay cool and have a fantastic day.
