Make A Blog Book

June 30, 2009

Have you noticed? SIX whole months have already flown by us. It's happening so fast now, makes me crazy. Even so, today is just absolutely lovely outside, lots of sun an not too hot.

As for my mystery tree, how did I not see it before? Could be any of many reasons. First of all, not all flowering trees blossom profusely every year. Some get a few blooms that only last a few days, some miss the bloom thing altogether. Then, of course, the biggie -- I just haven't been into noticing the many types of flora on my property. This is probably the best reason, although I do check out the Japanese Maple tree all the time and honestly never saw this beauty.

I think maybe this would be a good year to have my eyes checked and order new glasses. I've had these glasses a few years now, so it's time. Mind you, I'm not blaming my glasses for my huge oversight. I see just fine with them.

For those of you wanting to print out all your blog postings and make them into a beautiful book, check out this site. http://blogger.sharedbook.com/. I thought this to be a wonderful idea. A book would preserve a period of time in your life that you can pass on to your family. Also, the prices seemed to be quite reasonable.

At the moment, Miss Tootsie is frantically scurrying around under my desk, most likely trying to find a good hiding place for one of her cookies or chewy bones. Good thinking, kiddo! Who would ever think to look under my desk? And, of course, I would never tell anyone where her hiding places are. So if you're reading this, Moo, don't look under my desk.

Tomorrow, we have a brand new Daily Download kit for you at Magickal Scraps. This one is called "Crayola Garden" and is done in all the wonderful colors of summer. We all take turns picking the themes and colors for these kits, and the July kit was my turn. I will put up the new slideshow this evening.

I also have a freebie mini kit for you today. "A Walk In The Park" was done for a challenge at Magickal Scraps. I hope you like it. Now it is time for me to get busy here, and maybe accomplish something whether it be housework or PC work. Y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Lovely Treat Right In My Own Yard

June 29, 2009

You can tell this is New England. Yesterday, half the day was scrumptious, and the other half it rained. All night, and all this morning. Sometime mid-day today, the sun came out and warmed everything up nicely. Alas, I did have to take a nap, and missed a lot of it.

Last night I was not in the mood for designing, so I picked up a great book to read and got lost in a most wonderful story. "Dreaming In Color" by Charlotte Vale Allen kept me entranced until sometime this afternoon, when I finished reading it. I read this book several years ago, so it was a treat to read it once again. Now I really must go to the library soon, and see if they have any of her other books. I've probably read them all but who cares -- that would have been a few years ago. Good books are always a treat to read.

Ever notice how something can be right in front of you for years and years, and you never even see it? I am always amazed at some of the things that I come across, only to find that they have been there all along.

This afternoon, I was out in the yard enjoying a bit of fresh air, and for some reason looked up at the Japanese Maple tree. Oh my gosh, you'll never believe what I saw. Tucked behind it, and between two huge pine trees, was a lovely flowering tree. I will have to look up the name of it, because I'm not sure what it is. But my oh my, is it ever lovely. Of course, I had to get my camera and take some photos. Now I wonder why I never saw it before? It didn't just pop up there, it's much too big for that.

So, before I leave you today, I will share a couple of photos that I took. One so you can see how it is tucked in with the other trees, and one is a close up. I have to tell you, I took these photos with my new 50mm lens at a bit of a distance. I just love this new lens.

Uncle Moo treated everybody to Chinese take-out for supper tonight. Tootsie and I are stuffed and are turning in early. Y'all have a fantastic night, and enjoy the photos.

Hugs, Edna B.

More Rain, What Else Is New?

June 28, 2009

Wow, we just can't get a day in without rain. Yesterday afternoon, the gray clouds rolled in bringing with them the thunder and a bit of lightning. After a spell of grumbling, down came the rains. And did they come down!! After an hour or so, it dwindled down to light rain and drizzle through the night. And today too!

The gardens are becoming water logged, and flowers are rotting - some even before their blossoms open. However, the day lilies seem to be doing okay. Every here and there is a beautiful little patch of color and it's usually a day lily.

This morning at work, I got a glimpse of a most beautiful bright orange tanager. He was just too quick for me to get a photo. I sure hope he comes back (when I'm there) so that I can get a nice photo.

Last night was not a good night for designing. For some reason, I just could not get in the mood. Could be, it was the tme. It was after 9pm before I was able to play on the laptop, and by then the creative part of my brain was a bit tired. Hopefully tonight I will do better.

Before I leave you to go have me a nice nap, I will share a pretty photo that I took a couple of days ago. It was raining, but one of the deer had come out in the field across the street to graze. Considering the distance, and the rain, I thought the photo was quite nice. Enjoy, and y'all have a really grand day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Glorious Day Today

June 27, 2009

Outside my windows is a glorious day. I must get out there for a bit, even if only to walk around the yard and take in the fresh air. I have a gorgeous Japanese Maple tree that has been displaying the most beautiful colors. There are all shades of red, orange, yellow, green, brown and gold. Just a great big beautiful paint box. This Fall, it will be a fantastic deep, yet bright, crimson. Uncle Moo squawks about the red leaves all over his van, but even he enjoys the beauty of this tree.

Boy, last night after I finished writing here and had my supper, I took Miss Tootsie and went to bed. Conked out shortly thereafter and slept for a few hours. We woke up later to get our meds and do our nightly ablations (another $20 word for you, Snowy), then went right back to bed. Today I feel much better, so I guess the sleep was needed.

One of the dwarfs filled up the bird feeder so now there is a whole flock of visitors just outside my window. I could watch the birds all day. I know men don't like to admit it, but the guys here are also enjoying watching the birds.

As for my topsy turvy tomato plants, I have to say I am a dismal failure. They don't seem to grow very much. There a are three tomatoes on one plant, and neither plant is in any hurry to grow downwards. I wonder where the one on the TV advertisement was hung? Theirs grew several feet long and had bunches of huge tomatoes on it. So much for the gardener in me.

I'm off now to start the sauce for supper, and feed my little girl her lunch. Got lots to do before I leave for work. I'll leave you with a photo I took of my beautiful tree, and one of our visitors. Y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Hooray!! The Sun Is Shining !!

June 26, 2009

Ah, it has been a long day. A nice day, but rather long. Except for a few little showers mid-day, the sun has been shining beautifully all day. You could almost see the flowers trying to perk up and show off their pretty colors. So many were lost because of water-rot. (from all the rain)

Miss Tootsie went to work with me today, and was rather glad to finally get home. She does not like to use potty facilities anywhere but here at home, so her little wee pads looked awfully good to her when we got back here. Poor baby.

I tell you, my little doggie has some quirks that I have never come up against before with any other animals. And her potty habits is just one of these quirks. She makes up little games that she only plays with Uncle Moo. She delights in snarling and growling at him while she protects a chewy bone or something similar. Is it any wonder we have so much fun with her?

I thought I would be different today and take my little webbook to work, only to find that I could not get an internet connection with it - strange. Oh well, I tried to get it connected and probably only made it worse. I am not a very tekkie person. Maybe Wayne can straighten it out.

Tonight, Moo is baking haddock for supper. Mmmmmmm. Maybe stuffing and veggies to go with it. Tootsie will have to settle for her kibbles. That's what I call her dry food. For lunch today, she had German bologna. It was on sale so I thought she deserved a treat.

I'm off now. Maybe after dinner, I can do a bit of designing. If my eyes stay open long enough. Meanwhile, y'all have a terrific night.

Hugs, Edna B.

I'm Just A Smiling Mess

June 25, 2009

I spoke too soon yesterday. By noon, the sun had gone into hiding and the gray, damp stuff came back. Looks a bit gray today too. However, by sometime later this month, we'll probably be complaining about the heat and humidity. The weatherman can't win.

Today, I have an appointment with orthopedic doctor and hopefully, will find out what's been causing the pain in my feet. I do some exercises, and still wear the little Dr Scholl things in my shoes. They really do seem to help quite a bit.

Poor Miss Tootsie knows I'm going out without her, and is getting quite anxious. She's been sticking right to my side all day. Maybe I'll give her an extra treat to soothe her. That usually puts a nice little smile on her face. (You can't see the smile, but I know it's there.)

**********Gone to keep my appointment.

On the way to my appointment, it was wonderfully warm, and SUNNY. Although the sun didn't stay out too long, it sure was nice to see it. Just a little thing like that can brighten up a person's whole day, and personality.

As for my medical news, it seems I will live to see another day. Whenever I take my little lady's blood pressure, she asks me "Am I going to see another day?" Yes ma'am, you certainly are. And me too. It seems that all my foot problems are because of my spinal disc degeneration and nerve damage. I also have cervical disc degeneration.

So all told, I'm just a little mess here a'fallin apart. BUT, I have too much to do, and cannot waste precious time dwelling on these things. Like I told my doctor, every morning that Tootsie and I wake up is a good day, thank you, and today is a good day.

Enough of my rattling. Before I leave you to play on my PC, I want to remind you that the 33% sale of Magickal Scraps is on for just two more days. And don't forget my "Petals" kit. All the proceeds from this kit go to help keeping Magickal Scraps running. So please, if you like it, buy it, and we thank you for your support. Y'all have a great day.'

Hugs, Edna B.

"My Daddy" - New Kit

June 24, 2009

It's beginning to look like another one of "those" days. Not all things are happening the way they should. At least, thought, it's not raining. Not at this moment, anyway. It's only noon, so maybe things will pick up for the rest of the day.

I thought I might do some furniture shopping last night, but for some reason I just didn't have the energy required to move about. Could be it was all that rain. Gloomy weather has a way of dampening the spirit.

There seems to be a problem at the Magickal Scraps forum, so I can't go in there to see the new postings. But, I'm sure Snow Raven will have that fixed soon. There's been quite a bit of spam there lately too. I can't imagine why people would be so rude as to dump a lot of junk on other people's spaces. Ah well, maybe soon they will find somewhere else to go.

Maybe this afternoon I can start a couple of new kits. I have some ideas and new Photoshop brushes that I want to play with a bit. It's a bit addicting though, once you get started the clock just keeps on running.

Last night I uploaded a new kit, to my store at Magickal Scraps. "Daddy" is a great kit for scrapping your photos and memories of that special man we call Daddy. I know that one of the things my daddy loved was "second hand" cars. On payday, it was not unusual to see him pushing one up the street to our yard. It didn't matter that it might not run - he would fix it. And then he would paint it blue. He painted everything blue. When he was playing around with an old car, my daddy was in seventh heaven.

I'm off now to make lunch for Tootsie and me. Mmmmmm, Little Caesar for her and a pot pie for me. I can smell that pot pie already. Don't forget the sale going on at Magickal Scraps. Everything is 33% off through the 27th. Even my new kit, "Daddy." So now is a great time to pick it up. Have fun shopping, and y'all have a great day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Summer Is Off To A Cool Start

June 23, 2009

Not too keen on this summer weather so far. Today is another gray, damp day, and a bit on the cool side. The flowers don't seem to be faring too well, there's just not enough sunshine for them. However, the grass is very green, and the fields are filled with tall grasses. So that's the plus side of this gray weather.

Little by little, I have been catching up on the challenges at Magickal Scraps. Plus, I started the November Daily Downloads. I want to have as much playtime open as I can for when Snowy gets here in October. Audrey will be here too for about a week, so I want to have a lot of playtime to enjoy this visit.

I have been wracking my brain all day trying to come up with a word for the "Q" challenge next month. I think "x" and "z" are going to be a problem too. So if you have any ideas that I might be able to use, please let me know.

In a little while, Miss Tootsie and I will have to start back to the hospital for the last chemo treatment of this round. This morning she also had to have blood work done. We're beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel for her. It will be a day for celebrating when it gets here, because we never expected it to come at all.

Today, I think I will share my layout for the Template challenge. Snow Raven supplied the template, and a friend supplied the cartoon and the words of wisdom. This one fit me to a "T" and was sheer fun to work on. I hope you like it.

Time for me to do a little bit of housework now. Specifically, a sink full of dirty dishes. Not my idea of fun, but it does have to be done. Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Lots Of Rain, And A Freebie For You

June 22, 2009

Sorry about last night's post. I was jut about finished with it, and I lost my connection to the internet. I was also in the middle of a conversation with Snow Raven. Hopefully, she understood why all of a sudden I stopped talking with her.

There's really no news today. Just rain, rain, and lots more rain. We did have quite a bit of wind with the rain yesterday and last night. There were quite a few small branches down in the streets on my way to work last night. All the beautiful flowers are beginning to look water-logged, and bushes are hanging low, heavy with water.

This morning, Miss Tootsie started this round of chemo. One treatment down, three to go by tomorrow afternoon. She is such a love putting up with all of this. I wonder if she knows that this is what saved her life. Ah well, the important thing to remember is that she is still here, and the quality of her life is pretty good.

I finished a few challenges these past few days, and will share one of them with you today, along with another freebie mini kit called "Eastern Twilight." I tried to post this last night, but alas, no internet. Ah well, such is the life.

I do have a lot of catching up to do on the PC this week, and I still have a lot of work to do here in the house. Gosh, it's mind-boggling sometimes. But there is a nifty solution to all of this. It's called "sit back, relax and do a jigsaw puzzle." And I might just do that - in a little while after I make a fairly good stab at a bit of work.

Well that's it for today, things to do, gotta go. Y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Miss Tootsie Goes Shopping

June 20, 2009

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JR. I wish you a truly wonderful and happy day. My babies are all grown, and some are grandparents themselves. Thirty five years ago, I couldn't fathom what today would be like. It just never crossed my mind that I would enjoy the day when my children became grandparents. But that day did come, and it has been enjoyable.

This morning Miss Tootsie had her appointment at the beauty salon, and afterwards we did a bit of shopping for her. She hasn't got any new clothes in a while, so four new dresses and a bag of gourmet cookies was a real treat for her. When we got home, she gobbled up a sandwich cookie, but then hid her chocolate chip cookie for later when no one is looking. I will have to keep an eye on this particular cookie - don't need any ants in here.

When I checked my e-mail this morning I got a wonderful surprise. My first scrap design paycheck. It wasn't very big, but it was certainly beautiful. Put a lovely lift to my day. Papa, you would be very proud of me today. My hubby was my biggest supporter and fan. So many times I miss that.

Yesterday, I took some wonderful photos while it was raining. I think raindrops on leaves and flowers is just beautiful. Also, while I was at work, I looked out the window just in time to see Mommy Deer and her little one passing through the back yard. My photos were taken through the windows, but they are still pretty good, so I will share these with you today.

Tonight is a working night, so I'm off now to see if maybe I can get a few things done on my pc. Y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Freebie For You

June 19, 2009

This will be a short post. I've been rather busy doing I'm not sure what. Catching up on emails, forums, on-line orders, all kinds of good stuff, and in between a little supper for Tootsie and me. Just doesn't seem like much, huh?

Crooknees, I'm so glad you're back and hopefully, feeling much better. My PC gave me (still does) a run for my money a little while back not letting me into places, and hiding things like Snowy's comment box. Now why in the world would it do that? This week it cut me off from uploading and downloading from various places. But I think we found that little culprit. I seem to be back up and running again. So, hopefully, your PC will be straightened out soon too.

I have a little mini kit for you called "Eastern Sunrise" that I did a couple of months ago for a challenge. If you like this one, I will post the other little kit "Eastern Twilight" in a couple of days. Now I think Tootsie and I will get comfy and watch a bit of TV. We have to get up early in the morning for her appointment at the beauty parlor. Till tomorrow, y'all have a great night. And a safe trip for Mac and Audrey - they're going to visit with their grandbaby.

A Big Sale And A New Award

June 18, 2009

Here we are another day, and it's frustrating because the list of places on the web that I cannot either get into or download from is growing. I tried some of these on my laptop, and that works fine, so it's definitely a problem with the computer. Maybe somewhere in the settings.

On a brighter note, there is a 30% off store wide sale going on at magickal Scraps. This is a good time for you to pick up a lot of beautiful kits and accesories for your scrapping at a terrific price.

Today my friend Kyra gave me a really lovely award, which has made this day so much brighter. Thank you Kyra. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful friend. So now I must pass it on to seven others who have really lovely blogs.

The rules are simple: 1- Add the logo to your blog, 2- Link to the person from whom you received this award, 3- Nominate 7 or blogs, 4- Leave a message on their blog, letting them know they are One Lovely Blog!

I have chosen to give it to:

1) Snow Raven @http://silversnowyraven.blogspot.com
2) Su @http://suruha-freespirit.blogspot.com
3) Deb @http://thescrapincop.blogspot.com
4) Davonna @http://chroniclesofnani.blogspot.com
5) Helga (Granny) @http://grannyart.blogspot.com
6) Crystal @http://crystalhowser.blogspot.com
7) Maitri @http://www.matriscraps.blogspot.com

That's it for today. Not much happening here, just more housework. Ugh!! Y'all have a wonderful day now.

Today Is A Murphy's Law Day!!

June 17, 2009

Well, here's another month flying by. Although I must say, this is the longest we have had Spring weather all during Spring in a long time. Usually we have a few beautiful Spring days, and hop right into the hot summer weather. This year. Spring was very nice.

I didn't get to accomplish very much on the PC today. For some reason, I have not been able to open my web storage program since last night. I tried many times, to no avail. Even had an e-mail thingy going with the program management. But I still cannot get into the program.

I guess if I want to upload any of my new stuff to storage, I will have to first transfer it all to disk, then over to my laptop. Once I get my links, I will have to do it all again in reverse. You know, this is just amazing. Before Vista, I never had any of these weird problems. So all you Vista lovers can keep your Vista. I can't wait to get rid of it.

The one thing I managed to do today was to go shopping and buy a new monitor for my old PC. By tomorrow night, the old PC should be all set up and running. Of course, true to Murphy's laws, I now find that I will eventually have to buy a new desk for the old computer. There is not enough room on it for both the PC and the monitor. We will just kitty corner things till we get a new desk.

Now if you think that was the worst of my day -- think again. The newspaper delivery person came (we did not see him) and first destroyed my newspaper. It was a big crumpled, crunchy, torn mess. Then he stuffed it into the paper tube and left. Grrrrrrrrr!!

After several phone calls to the newspaper to complain, and demand a new paper delivered, and three hours later, a manager showed up with a new paper for me. He apologized and explained that the carrier had given a two week notice, and was probably just trying to have himself a bit of fun before he left. For some reason, this does not make me feel any kindlier about the situation.

I am an optimist usually, so I have to believe that tomorrow is definitely going to be a much better day. So on that note, I will leave to get ready to watch my TV program. Tootsie and I will grab some snacks, get comfy, and enjoy our program. Y'all have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

Mars Is Coming

June 16, 2009

A friend of mine sent me some info about Mars and a great photo opportunity. It seems that during the month of August, not only will we be able to see Mars but it will be as big and almost as bright as the moon. The date is August 27. Mars will come within 34,649,589 miles of Earth, and will be the closest approach between the two planets in recorded history. This will not happen again until the year 2287. Mark your calendar, and have your camera ready.

This morning was gray, damp and rather dreary. As expected, my energy level is quite low. But, as I write this, I notice that the sun has just popped out so maybe things will pick up now. There's something about the weather that plays a big part in our energy systems. At least mine, anyway.

This morning I did get to watch Mommy Cardinal feeding her youngster. The baby was set upon the top of my newspaper box, somewhat hidden by the rose bush. Mommy would look for the birdseed and bring it up to baby and feed it to her. I get the biggest rush from being able to observe this way.

Today, I have a couple of layouts to share with you. Gabbi made these using my "Asian Harmony" kit. Note Gabbi's own beautiful nature photos featured in the layouts. Now it's time to find something for lunch that will tempt Tootsie's taste buds, and mine too. Y'all have a wonderful day.

New CU Kit

June 15, 2009

Today was a great day. I had me a great, fantastic, refreshing nap! After that, I managed to finish and wrap up my first CU Background Overlays kit which will be in the store in July. However, if you want it free, you will have to scoot on over to Magickal Scraps forum and take part in the Inspiration Challenge. Overlays are in grayscale and PNG format.

Then I had to mosey on over to another forum that I belong to and read all the ruckus that is going on there. This forum is mostly for Photoshop and Photography. However, it seems that there are to be changes to the challenges, and Admin has chosen to speak quite unkindly to some of the valued and loyal members when they have responded with comments. Oh dear. I hope we don't lost some of our valued members because of this.

Back here, tonight was pizza night (because I am too lazy to cook tonight), and Tootsie has once again turned her beautiful little nose up at her doggie dinner - doggie porterhouse flavored stuff. Instead, she has eaten her kibbles (dry Beneful doggie food) and is probably still hungry. Oh well, I tried.

If any of you has a list of foods (specific brands and items) of foods that Celiacs can eat, (no gluten or wheat) could you please send it to me at missednascraps@yahoo.com. My little great grandson has celiac desease and has hopes of growing big and strong so that he can play for the Red Sox one day. This list will help me to help him, so thank you in advance.

I'm off now to play on my pc. Y'all have a fantastic night.

No Nap For The Weary

June 14, 2009

Has anyone noticed that Summer is only a week away? Gosh I had so much to accomplish by springtime, and here it is summer already. I guess with the "Golden" comes the "Slow." Aside from work and appointments, it is a good thing that my life is not totally dependent on keeping a schedule.

Today is rather wet and the rain hasn't let up yet, so I will assume that the baseball game for 1 p.m. will be cancelled. I have yet to make it to a game when my grandson is pitching. When I do make it, I find that he has been moved to another position. Maybe this week will be my time. After all, the rain can't last forever, can it?

Several hours later...............................................

Well, the rain did let up, and the game went on. And we didn't win. Oh well, the kids gave it a good try, and well, it's a game, right? By the time Tootsie and I got home and finished up a few bills for the morning mail, it was too late for much of a nap. We did manage about a half hour.

So on that note, I will leave you till tomorrow. It's time to go back to work. Y'all have a wonderful night.

Hugs, Edna B

Ouchie Day Has Arrived.

June 13, 2009

Well, today's the big ouchy day. Gosh, I do hate needles in a big way. Hopefully, this is the last test, and I can hobble on with my life. The Dr Scholl's footie things are helping quite a bit. I notice the difference without them right away. Probably should put them in my slippers too.

I made it to the baseball game the other night, and it was a great game - we won. Kool Aid Kid was catcher that night (the regular catcher was out sick), and he did a great job. I got some really great shots of him in action.

My youngest great granddaughter was there, and let me tell you - this little darling is destined to be a famous movie star or model. She sees a camera and comes alive. Me and my camera had ourselves a wonderful time.

On my way home from work yesterday, I had to stop for a photo shoot. There were a couple of turkeys in the road trying to decide whether or not to take the shortcut through the cemetery. Of course, I had to get out and take advantage of this photo opportunity.

Well, I can't chat too long this morning, have to get myself ready for this wonderful pin cushion event. (That's me stuck full of needles!) Y'all have yourselves a fantastic day, and here are some photos to enjoy.

Hugs, Edna B

Lots Of Errands Today

June 11, 2009

It's been a busy day today, and still more to do yet. This morning I read some of my email while enjoying a cup of coffee. Then it was time to get ready for Physical Therapy. today wasn't too bad. They started out by putting a wonderful hot pillow under my feet. Ooooooooooooooooo. I could have stayed like that for hours. Boy, that felt soooooo good!

Then came the work part. Up down, up down, toes first, heels next. The first ten ups and downs on each were not so bad, the last ten ups and downs on each were torture. It must be nice to have a PAYING job where you can torture poor folks like me.

After therapy, I made a run to Walmart. Time to stock on doggie dinners seeing as how we have none left. I realize that Tootsie would much rather I had stocked up on roasted chicken and roast beef, but they didn't have either of those at our Walmart. Too bad Tootsie.

Next, it was time to scoot on over to Costco and pick up all our meds. One of Tootsie's meds ran out yesterday so this was a must do trip. Of course, you can't just go in and pick up meds, you have to browse through all the other good stuff too. I had enough free food taster samples to make up for no lunch, so this was a plus.

I did manage to find a few groceries that we needed, and stopped by the magazine rack for the latest issues of whatever Photoshop or Digital Photography magazines that might be there. i found three, and promptly put them in my basket. On to the check-out counter, where I got the surprise of my life. Can you imagine? $30.00 for a magazine??????? I asked the girl at the register if the magazine were lined with gold or platinum. She only remarked "Would you like me to put it back?" Hell, no! I'll keep it, but it better be damn good for that price!

Then I headed for home, rather tired and getting hot. Ah, but I forgot I still have to stop at the Post Office and mail a box to my son. When I saw what the little box was going to cost me to mail, the lady behind the counter took pity on me and tried to find "one rate" boxes that my box might fit into. Unless I opened the box and emptied the contents out into another box, it wasn't going to work. But I thanked her for trying.

May I give you all a word of advice? When your friends and family come visiting, and cannot fit all their stuff back into their suitcase, just go out and buy another inexpensive suitcase and pay the airlines $25.00 for shipping. It is definitely much cheaper and time saving, and they end up with an extra suitcase for their next trip.

So far the rain is holding off, so it looks as if my grandson will have his baseball game tonight. This means that I will now take my leave and get ready to go the game. Of course, I'll be bringing Tootsie with me. My poor little baby with the dog face. Y'all have a fantastic night.

New Windows Today.

June 10, 2009

Today's the day the new windows are supposed to be installed in our kitchen. But we'll see, because it is rather gray and wet outside. Plus, wait till they hear they wont be allowed to stomp all over my flowers while they are doing the install. When I ordered these windows, none of my plants had come up yet. But it has taken quite a while for them to come, and now I have plants that I don't wish to have destroyed. Oh my.

Gosh, I was just about to leave for a few minutes and get dressed before the contractor gets here, and my eye caught a movement outside my window. You'll never guess!! It's him, and he's 45 minutes early. Gotta run, be back later.

Ah, I am back, and the windows are all in. If I do say so myself, they do look good. I wondered how they were going to get the old window off that is smack right over the flower bed, and I made sure to put the fear of God into them before they started. I think maybe they came early so they could tromp right into the little garden and remove the old window. But I was too quick for that.

So guess how they got the window out - including the old storm window that was screwed on from the outside? They had to do it from inside the kitchen. I did not want so much as one tiny little weed in my garden stomped on. Now that's a good contractor. Anything to please a cranky old lady. Well what can I say? When you get to this age, you have your ways about you. Mine is called - I want it my way.

Now there is so much light coming in through the nice new windows, we will have to put up new blinds and curtains. That's a good thing though. Next we will take care of the windows for my part of the house. Then maybe I can have new blinds and curtains too.

Today, I have a few more photos to share with you. The first one is a shot of our topsy turvy tomatoes. I don't understand - the ones on TV are about 4 feet long, while ours are struggling to gain any length. But we do have tomatoes.

Next, I have a couple of shots of the rose bush. It was big beautiful yellow roses when my daughter Kerri gave it to me many years ago, but then it went back to root stock I guess because for quite a few years it has been these lovely little white roses.

I have to separate these two photos because Mr Blogger is having a "Snit Day" today, and is re-arranging my blog all by himself. He's not letting me put both the photos up with any words typed beneath them.

Well, two can play that game too, Mr. Blogger!! Let's see if this works. Now I'm going to get busy around here. I still have a lot of work to do, both in the house and on the PC. I'm working on some CU kits for my store. Are any of you interested in CU freebies? Let me know and maybe I could be putting some on here for you. Till tomorrow, y'all have a magnificent day.

A Night For Pictures

June 9, 2009

It's been a gray, bit of drizzly day here, a little on the cool side. But the birds seem to love this weather. My bird feeder needs to be filled again in the morning. This afternoon, Mommy cardinal was getting food from the feeder, and sharing it with her baby who was perched inside the rose bush. I love watching these birds. Chippy (chipmunk) was also out there looking for food, along with a squirrel.

Speaking of Chippy, I took some photos of a real cutie when I was visiting in Wisconsin last year. He just stood still and posed for me (actually, he was probably checking me out to see if I was dangerous).

Looks like tonight is a nature photo show. I took some nice photos of a swan family at a local park last week. Momma and Poppa were out with their babies, and my oh my, they are ever protective. This photo shows one of them scaring off a neighbor who got too close.

And here is a photo of what they were protecting.

Of course, I'm always looking for different plants and flowers, especially in uncommon colors. In the back yard at work, I found this beautiful little gem.

Today, I worked on the color challenge at Magickal Scraps. Here is a preview of my contribution. I called it "Whimsey." We were given colors to work with, and the theme was to be something whimsical. I made all my papers and patterns with various brushes. If you want this, you have to take part in the challenge. Then you get all the kits contributed for free.

"Whimsey"

I guess that's about it for tonight. Today was a rather uneventful day with not much to chat about. Till tomorrow, y'all have a great night.

Lots To Show You

June 8, 2009

We're definitely going to have a nap later this morning. I know my poor Tootsie needs to run around and play, but this old body needs sleep. Maybe we can squeeze in a little playtime before we crawl into bed.

I have some beautiful layouts to share with you this morning. Gabbi made them using my "And I Love You So" kit.

I have finally figured out that in order to get along nicely with Mr. Blogger, we just have to do away with paragraphs. That's not my norm, but I suppose I can handle it. It's so dreary having to always to post my photos and layouts at the bottom of the post. Sometimes I like having them in the middle of the post where they belong. So, Mr Blogger, YOU WIN !!

Last night I worked on the color challenge and the inspiration challenge for Magickal Scraps. So far, they are each half done. I really must get the glue out of my fanny and start producing. Maybe after my nap I will be much brighter.

Have you been to Miss Kyra's blog lately? If not, you've been missing out on some gorgeous kits, and they are all free. Just for saying "thank you." Her most recent kit, "Be Proud" is Native American influenced, and is it ever beautiful. I made a QP with it, and Kyra most generously gave me permission to offer it to you as a freebie. I hope you like it.

Till tomorrow, y'all have a fantastic day.

Happy Feet This Morning

June 7, 2009

It's rather early and I will be going home shortly - oh goodie goodie, I will get to have a nap. I have been watching a hummingbird flit in and out of the patch of peonies just outside the window here. He's too quick for me to get any photos though. Ah, but it's such a joy to be able to watch.

Today is supposed to a beauty. The weatherman says it will be in the high 70's (78) and rather pleasant. I hope so, my tomatoes are needing some sunshine. This topsy turvy planter thing is a slow grower. We have some tomatoes growing, but the plants themselves are not getting very long. If they were in the ground, they would be 2 or 3 feet tall by now. They seem to be having trouble hanging down even 12 inches from the topsy turvy planter. Anybody else use these things? Are you having better luck?

I spent the last few hours working on finishing up my portions of some delightful childrens' kits that Snow Raven and I will release in July. You won't want to miss out on these. They are really adorable.

**Update - I've been home for about an hour an a half, and it hasn't been looking too spiffy outside yet. I think maybe the weatherman has been drinking too much pickle juice. Maybe when I get up from my nap, it will look a bit better out there. Right now, it's a toss up as to whether I will turn on the little fireplace or throw another warm blanket on the bed. Brrrrr.

Before I turn in, I will share a new layout that features another lovely granddaughter in her graduation finery. Congratulations Andi. I know you probably thought this day would never come to be, but it's here at last, and we're all very proud of you. Did you use the whole box of tissues, Audrey?

Crooknees, last night I bought some Dr. Scholl's foot pads for heel pain, and put them in my sneakers. So far, they have helped tremendously. They come in both womens and mens sizes. Now I really must have a nap now before I fall off my chair. Till tomorrow, y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

New Chat Project

June 6, 2009

The last shift was a long one, and by the time I got home yesterday afternoon, I was tired, and my feet needed a rest. Changed out of my clothes into comfy jammies, and was able to catch the monthly Friday night chat with the ladies at Magickal Scraps. Last night's chat challenge was a fun one. We had to make either a layout, a QP or a mini kit using three different elements - metal, grunge and pearls.

For mine, I used one of the photos I took at my grandson's baseball game last week, and added a metal link fence to fit over the one in the photo. This was very tricky to do. I fitted four sections of chain fence together, even used two different shades of metal on the top and bottom. (Don't be looking for flaws - they're there.) Then I added the pearls, flowers and baby booties for the memories of not too long ago.

Seems like just yesterday when this little fellow was just a two-pounder in an incubator. With such a beginning to overcome, this young man is not only smart, and a good student, he's also fast becoming a baseball legend known as the Kool Aid Kid. Wouldn't it be nice if he makes it all the way to the Red Sox lineup? And most important, on top of all these other wonderful things, he's a really nice person.

Tootsie and I are up earlier than we had planned this morning because Wayne was coming by to have a look at my PC, and try to speed it up a bit. It's become a regular turtle monster. Slow as very cold molasses, and annoying as all get out. Seems like a lot of the problem is in the start up menu. Vista seems to enjoy keeping the whole shebang in the start up corner, ready to jump to life in a split second. Unfortunately, this turns the whole machine into Crawl Mode.

For your freebie, I have a Sampler from "Asian Harmony" for you to play with. If you like it, the kit can be purchased at Magickal Scraps Shop. http://www.magickalscraps.com/. Now it's time for morning meds and another cup of coffee. Till tomorrow, y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A New Kit - "Asian Harmony"

June 4, 2009

Gosh, today, I'm running behind. Spent quite a few hours scanning and visiting with my daughter in law. It's amazing how some projects take so long. Thank goodness she was here to help me or I'd be scanning till tomorrow. My scanner is not handy to my PC, so to scan one piece, I have to run back and forth more than once. Mmmmmm. Maybe I need to do a bit of re-organizing in my little computer room.

Yesterday, I finished up two CU Overlay kits. Whoopee!! That's a first for me. Now just one more new kit to wrap up for June, and I can move on to all those great new challenges for this month. The color challenge should be a lot of fun. We have a set of colors to use, and the theme is up to us as long as it is whimsical. Hmmmm, this is new for me.

Tonight I'm off to work for another rather long shift. Doing my friend's shift tonight, and mine tomorrow. I need to remember to do my exercises while I am there. Yish!! I really don't like doing exercises. They make my legs and hips sore, and the feet are still hurting just as much.

It's time for me to be getting ready for work and I still have to pack Tootsie's overnight bag, so I will post a preview of my new kit, "Asian Harmony", and tomorrow I will try to have a sampler for you to play with. This is a very warm and spicy kit filled with a lot beautiful colors, flora and fauna, all with a definite Asian influence. Till tomorrow, enjoy, and y'all have a wonderful evening.

Hugs, Edna B.

An Early Riser Today

June 3, 2009

Tootsie and I are up early this morning, and it's coffee and treat time. A greenie for her and a cup of coffee for moi. I just ransacked the freezer to find meals for tonight and tomorrow night. How does ham steaks one night and cubed steak sound for the other? Hmmmmm? Done.

We share here, Moo and I, and usually one or two of the dwarfs. When we shop or cook, we plan the meals to feed three or four. And, of course, we share the cooking. This works out quite well for us. Although I must say, Moo does do most of the cooking and shopping.

Gosh, I just don't know these young gals do it. I spent quite a few hours yesterday afternoon and last night trying to put my new kits into the store. Just two of the kits!! And I had to enlist Snow Raven's help. In the midst of uploading the kits, my dear friend went to bed to have a nap. Of course, as soon as she left me, I managed to mess things up quite a bit and had to wait till she was up again and refreshed.

I spent the evening the other night making up the preview for a third new kit. After hours of much thought and work, I went to click on the save button and for the life of me, don't know what I hit instead, but all my work went Poof!!! Just like that !! Right to trash heaven!! Here is where I taught myself a few new choice words that would make a saint's ears curl.

This morning I am going to attempt to reconstruct the missing preview. I also want to finish up some CU things I am working on. This will be a newie for me. As long as I am learning the fine art of digi-design, I may as well get my feet wet in both ends of the business. But to be fair, it is exciting to learn new things, so I am really one happy little puppy.

On my way home from physical therapy the other day, I stopped by a cemetery that had a lovely little pond to shoot some photos. It was such a peaceful scene that I could not help myself. There were trees for shade, the pond was surrounded by irises, and filled with floating lily pads, and it was just so pretty. I will share one of the photos with you today.

I will also post a preview of the bonus QP's that you will get when you buy my new kit "And I Love You So." This is a very romantic kit that is perfect for those photos of your "Honey." It's also great for wedding photos.

Well, Tootsie and I are off now to see what kind of mischief we can cook up for today. Till tomorrow, y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Moms Are Moms Are Moms

June 2, 2009

I hope a lot of folks bought that kit for Shelle yesterday. It's very difficult for a mom to be kept away from her children, and the laws don't always make it easy for her. Good luck Shelle, I wish you the best.

First let me tell you about my visit with Physical Therapy yesterday. After much poking, prodding, measuring and watching me walk a bit, it was decided that I should do some foot and leg stretching exercises all this week, and go back next week so that they can see if there is a difference.

As for the EMG, I did ask about that because I have that to look forward to pretty soon. After explaining about needles and such, I doubt if that one will be such fun. I HATE needles. So much for that.

Have you noticed the new slide show up top here? This is the preview of our new Daily Download kit, "Bubbles," available at Magickal Scraps. It's a gorgeous kit, just perfect for scrapping your little ones' photos.
I still have a lot of work to do getting my new kits uploaded into the store, but today I will show you the preview of one of them and give you a sampler to play with. I had a wonderful time working on this kit, "And I Love You So." The kit is $3.49, and you get Bonus QP's free when you purchase the kit.

Tootsie is going on strike today - not eating her food. She did this yesterday too. I wonder does she realize that the dog food she's refusing today cost $2.00 a meal, and yesterday's two meals that she turned her nose up at cost almost $3.00. I think it's time we went back to dry doggie food. That ranges $7 - $13 a bag, and lasts quite a while.

After all, I don't have a money tree in the back yard. lol. Do you remember your mom saying that when you were a child? Our moms had the most wonderful sayings back then. "Don't shave your legs or you'll end up furry." "Eat that - There are children starving in Ethopia." "Leave that thing alone or it will fall off." And of course, my favorite - "Because I said so, that's why!"

I think I even passed a couple of those sayings along to my own children. What can I say? Moms are moms are moms. We need to pass this wonderful wisdom along to our little ones in order to prepare them to grow up and in turn, pass this same wisdom on to their children.

On that thought, I will leave you, and see about getting a few things accomplished today. Y'all have a fantastic day, an enjoy the sampler.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Kit To Help A Scrapper In Need

June 1, 2009

This Charity Kit is to Help Shelle Of Shellez Creations get her daughter back. Price of Kit is $10.00 all proceeds go directly to her. To read more about her problem you may go to her blog at http://shellezcreations.blogspot.com/
Please send to everyone you know.we need all the help we can get you may find the kit at http://katelynnsdesigns.com/store

Shelle of Shellez Creations needs our help! On May 6th 2009, Shelle's ex-husband, Brian, passed away. They shared two children together, one of which lived with him. Shelle immediately started taking action to get her oldest daughter back home with her, but because he had custody before he passed away and he was married things aren't as simple as Shelle just going and getting her. The guardian ad litem assigned to the original custody case informed Shelle that she will need to retain a lawyer and file a motion. The police aren't able to help her either.

In order for her to be able to get a lawyer for a decent rate she will have to file for a financial hardship and that could take up to 8 weeks. That's 8 weeks too long, considering the woman
that her daughter is now with wouldn't even let Brian and Shelles other child see him before he passed away in the hospital. She is now not accepting phone calls from Shelle or letting her
daughter talk to her.

Shelle is a wonderful person and would do anything for anybody without thinking twice. She is always the first person to jump in and help whenever it is needed. Katelynns Designs will be
selling a charity scrap kit especially for Shelle, all money received will go straight to Shelle to help her get enough money together to obtain a lawyer and file the motion that is needed. You will find the kit inside *Charity Collab http://katelynnsdesigns.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=90&products_id=472
